The long story short: Overpriced
The long story: Me and my spouse came to this restaurant on a Friday at lunchtime. This is actually my second attempt to crush at this place: usually the tables outside are mostly empty but have the “reserved” plate on all of them, the first time we were refused to get a table, this time was luckier.
We ordered food and several soft drinks (6 eur each). The drinks came shortly, the food - in some moderate time. I ordered chicken and pasta ( 18 eur) my spouse couldn’t choose anything (the meny has just several options), so he ordered a salad, sweet potatoes (~ 6 eur each), and a sauce that also cost smth.
The chicken was fine, but tasted and looked like an ordinary schnitzel, pasta was ok. I would say the dish was good but truly nothing special. The salad and potatoes were all fine but usual and rather small.
The drinks were fine, I actually truly liked my fruity red drink it was fresh, moderately sweet and sour. My husband’s was quite sweet.
The interior of the restaurant is really nice: a fresh and modern design. The building is an old renovated factory. The place inside is rather small though, not too many tables. We were seating outside as it was a shiny warm day. The outside seating is nice, close to water. However, it is very simplistic - just tables, no table cloth, no fence, no umbrellas, no tent. Seating under the sun was boiling hot, no shadow what so ever. Pedestrians passing by just next to the tables.
A surprise was that closer to the end they showed up with a cup of coffee which we never ordered nor even mentioned. We said that it was a mistake, they were doubtful but took the coffee away.
The total bill was 40+ eur. The coffee still was in the bill so we had to point it out. They removed it from the bill but we had to swear once more that we didn’t order the coffee.
Overall, the place is nice, the service is polite and fast, but the food/setup is not worth the money. The acceptable price would be at most 30 eur. On the wall next to the entrance, there is a micheline star.. well, I do not think our experience was worth the star: not serving nor the food or the design were...
Read moreThis was a true highlight of our recent long weekend escape to Tallinn.
Located in a cool Kalamaja district with modern architecture it offers stunning views of the Port Noblessner. The venue itself is a historical shipyard building. The interior well integrates the legacy of the industrial space, vintage looking simple furniture, open kitchen and magnificent fireplace with stunning green tiles at the center stage. Concrete walls, floor tiles, high ceiling, large windows letting plenty of daylight in create great ambient.
Good for a family dining as it's kids friendly and even has a special menu for children and board games to entertain young guests.
Comfort food here is utterly delicious. I strongly recommend to go for a tasting menu. You get to taste the best dishes from the menu which all served to share. We were served three starters, two mains and dessert for just 49 euro and that's obviously a super value for money.
As we were a group of eight people we tasted almost everything which was on the menu.
Sourdough with extra virgin olive oil was so good, that we ordered two loafs for the take away. Anchovies with oil, baby capers and lemon is a simple, but tasty small starter.
Scallops, beef tartare and crème goat cheese startes were just perfect.
Both mains were impressive. Smoked red trout with baked baby potatoes and beef fillet garnished with chanterelles, baked carrots and mesmerising creamy pepper sause with cognac.
Fish soup got five stars as well. Kids loved pasta with chicken in rich cream sause.
Desserts were remarkable. Vanilla panacotta with sweet and sour passion fruit, pudding and ice-cream.
House made lemonades are awesome.
Fantastic experience I will definitely return for. No surprise to me that Janno Lepik received the best young chef Michelin award and got featured in...
Read moreWhere could i start …. My friends and I had a big celebration, the party was a jubilee, so we decided to go from Norway to this restaurant in Tallinn. Because we thought it would be super cool to have dinner at this prestigious restaurant.
Well, it all started badly, since all the guests (17 people) wanted to order the "Lore experience", to which the head waitress said a resounding no, because the whole table had to ask for it and unfortunately we had two vegetarian people, oh really ? lose the experience just because there were two vegetarians at the table?
Anyway, the other guests ordered different starters and main dishes, and again wrong, the inexperienced waitresses in their field wrote down the orders wrong, and they brought us dishes that we did not order, in addition to serving all the food at the same time, there were guests with Two dishes on the table with a main course and starters, a total disaster!
Later, the wine that we ordered was totally uneven, there was no order or any experienced mastermind who could handle the poor service we received, we never received an apology from the head waiter, in addition to the fact that when we left the establishment they turned us around face in a derogatory manner.
and there were more altercations of which I prefer to omit now for lack of space. In conclusion, bad service, inexperienced waiters, the food arrived cold and inaccurate, the experience was really sad, and more for my friend who was celebrating his jubilee and the question of having traveled so many kilometers for such poor service.
I hope the Michelin star that the establishment has. either for the beautiful glasses and glassware, expecting an...
