Ethiopian Ta'em Cultural Restaurant — Restaurant in Addis Ababa

Two years ago, my family and I had a wonderful experience at Cultural Ta'em Restaurant during our small wedding ceremony. The food and service exceeded our expectations, and we were hoping to relive that same quality this year. While we were happy to see the restaurant had moved to a new location, unfortunately, our recent visit was disappointing. The food quality had noticeably declined, and the staff seemed inattentive, rarely checking in or offering assistance. We were also surprised to find there was no cultural band, which was part of the charm during our previous visit. When we asked for dessert, the response was dismissive — we were told they would serve it "if we badly needed it," which left us feeling unwelcome. In the end, we decided to skip it altogether. Overall, the experience this time did not live up to the standard we remembered. We hope the management considers this feedback seriously to improve the quality and service...

We were transiting and had the buffet lunch here. There was a very large spread of traditional Ethiopian food.

Eden was very patient and explained the dishes to us so we weren’t overwhelmed. We got to try the famous raw beef dishes, and of course the different stews that are more mainstream back in the US where we’ve had Ethiopian food.

Everything was very tasty. Granted, we haven’t had much Ethiopian food before so this was easily the best Ethiopian food we’ve had 🤣 Would recommend trying this if you’re stopping over instead of the European buffet so you get a taste of the local cuisine!

I was pleasantly surprised with my visit to the restaurant. The space is extremely well decorated with nods to Ethiopia's rich culture and history. The food was simply divine, I ordered one of the "Non-Fasting" platters, and it didn't disappoint. The portion sizes are very generous, and it could have easily fed more than one person. During my visit, there were musical and dance presentations that also furthered my experience and the enjoyment of all people there.

This is definitely one of the best restaurants I have ever been to, and I'll make sure to pay another visit...
