Falafel Box — Restaurant in Helsinki sub-region

I visited the place with my family and girlfriend and got met with the coldest greeting, fitting one of the coldest countries.

When placing our orders, the server got hostile towards my girlfriend and urged her towards taking the buffet ”because then she can eat whatever she wants”. This was after she had asked which dips come with the falafel. Apparently we offended him by looking at the menu.

He was even more offended when asked if the falafels were gluten free, ”yes, the falafels ARE vegetarian”, he remarked with an angered tone and expression. Apparently the difference between gluten and vegetables was unknown to him.

Rest of us got the buffet not because it looked good, but because we did not want to deal with the guy. The food was average overall, but our experience got ruined by the falafel shop Napoleon behind the counter.

If you like OK food and bad service, and a desert which can (and will) give you diabetes, I can only whole-heartedly recommend.

I had high hopes for this place, especially since the vegetarian meal I ordered—falafel with salad and hummus actually tasted pretty good. Unfortunately, a few hours after eating, I became seriously ill with food poisoning. This was the only thing I had eaten all day, so it’s hard to chalk it up to anything else.

Aside from the food safety issue, the overall service experience was very strange. There’s no real staff presence—no one to greet you, take your order, or help with anything. It’s a fully self-serve setup, which might appeal to some, but felt disorganized and impersonal to me.

It’s really disappointing because the meal had potential, but the aftermath and lack of support or structure made it an experience I wouldn’t want to repeat. I hope they take food safety and customer service more seriously...

Huonointa palvelua mitä olen viimeisen 37v aikana saanut missään. Tilasin noudettavaksi ravintolan käyttämän kolmannen osapuolen palvelun kautta kaksi annosta. Kun saavuin kassalle, kassalla oli mieshenkilö, joka puhui kovaäänisesti (ja hieman agressiiviseen sävyyn) iPhonen langattomiin kuulokkeisiin jollekin ?kaverille? samalla kun pyöritteli jotain ruokaa ?kassalla?. Ei tervehtinyt tai katsonut päinkään kun saavuin kassalle. Minuutin odottelun jälkeen hän tympeästi katsoi minuun, jonka jälkeen sanoin, että olin tullut noutamaan tilaamani (ja etukäteen maksetut) ruokani. Mies kuitenkin ilmoitti, että ei he käytä tuollaista palvelua ja että ei heillä ole minulle mitään ruokia ja että minun pitäisi nyt jotenkin todistaa että heillä on sellainen palvelu käytössä. Hän ei suostunut antamaan minulle mitään ruokaa tai pahoittelemaan tilannetta tai pyrkiä edes jollain tasolla selvittämään mistä tässä on kysymys. Hän myös ilmoitti, että ei hän näe mistään mitään tilausta ja että "mistä minun pitäisi muka nähdä joku tilaus?". Asiakaspalvelija oli äärimmäisen töykeä. Hän ikään kuin rupesi vaatimaan että minun pitäisi jotenkin todistaa että heillä on tällainen ruokatilauspalvelu käytössä ja että näyttäisin mistä HÄN sen löytää. Sanoin että en ole siellä töissä ja että voisiko joku muu tulla asian kanssa auttamaan. Noh.. 5min päästä kassalle saapui joku muu hoitamaan asian joka sitten antoi minulle tilaamani ruoat. Tämä muu henkilö myös osasi sanoa, että edellä mainittu huonoa asiakaspalvelua siinä itsessään näyttänyt mies kyllä tiesi, että heillä on sellainen palvelu käytössä ja että kohta asiakas tulee noutamaan niitä ruokia. Ruoka oli muutoin ihan OK, mutta täytyy sanoa, että tällaisen kokemuksen jälkeen teki vähän vaikeaa sitä alkaa syömään. En suosittele tätä paikkaa kenellekkään. Välttäkää, vieressä on paljon...
