I went to Capperi last summer (2022) with a group of friends. We chose Capperi because one of my friends had been here before and said their food is good. Well, unfortunately this did not turn out to be the case when we visited. The food was very disappointing and my friend said the pizza was totally different in comparison to last time. We were 4 people and ordered the starter plate to share and 4 different pizzas to share between the whole group. So everyone tried all the food. And I hate to say it, but unfortunately both the starter plate and the different pizzas were bad to pretty bad. The anti pasti starter plate was a huge disappointment. I have never seen an Italian restaurant mess up an anti pasti starter plate. Until this visit I did not think this was possible due to the nature of anti pasti / Italian style starter food. First, it was very little food to be shared amongst 4 people (we ordered the starter plate for 4 people). Then the biggest single portion of the starter plate was an item called pizza bread, it was a strange, chewie slice of undercooked pizza dough, topped with a stripe of hot (as in chili hot) tomato concentrate. It was a very strange pairing, noone out of our group liked it. It was not how one expect pizza bread to be. Other than the chewie, undercooked pizza bread, there was a larger amount of fresh basil leaves, one kind of salami, two kinds of ham, two kinds of cheese (micro portions), a few olives and a small portion of mozzarella. Again, we ordered the starter platter for 4 people. The salami, hams and cheese were ok, the mozzarella was tasteless. I'm attaching a photo of the starter platter to this review. The photo shows the entire, full starter platter for 4 how it was served to us. The different pizzas we tried were all pretty much tasteless as well, with the exception of one pizza which was just very hot (as in chili hot). I had a hard time eating the hot pizza due to the level of hotness. My friends were ok with the hotness, but I would not use them as a benchmark since my friends regularly do friendly competitions of who can eat the hottest food. Spoiler, they eat very hot food and hence have a high tolerance to hot food. Regarding the consistency of the pizza, it was almost impossible to cut the pizza because it was the same strange, undercooked, chewie pizza dough like the pizza bread from the starter platter. The difference pizza sauces were tasteless, we had red and white pizza sauces in the different pizzas. The so called premium pizza we ordered also had no taste. And no, noone had Covid at the time and lost their taste. For example, we did taste the wine, which was good, and the basil leaves. Our entire group of 4 all agreed on the tastelessness of the food. My personal verdict is that this was the worst pizza and worst starter at an Italian restaurant, which I've ever eaten. And I've eaten some cheap pizza from these cheap pizza places downtown Helsinki back in my student days. When putting the quality and taste of the food in relation to the above average prices in this restaurant, the experience is even more disappointing. The atmosphere was not great either. The restaurant is on the smaller side and we sat very close to the next table. The table next to us had the dessert (Nutella) pizza while we were having dinner. I constantly had the Nutella smell in my nose during the later part of our dinner, which did not add to my joy of eating savory food and was a bit irritating. I also can't say anything positive regarding the restaurant's customer care. I did leave feedback right after the visit on their Facebook page as the pizza and pizza bread were clearly undercooked and my friend had a previous positive experience here which was radically different at our visit together. I got no feedback from the restaurant. I did not expect a discount, just an acknowledgement of our experience along with an apology would have been appreciated. This evening was a farewell dinner for a friend moving abroad, this experience did dampen our evening to some extent as we all...
Read moreI give this restaurant 3 stars because I know their pizzas are amazing. This time however I decided to go for a tuna salad they had on their lunch menu. My friends had eaten half of their pizzas by the time my salad came, which was curious as my salad consisted of five ingredients: arugula, olives (which I asked to be taken out when I ordered), a few cooked tomatoes, a can of tuna and mozzarella. I think that on the bottom there were a few spinach leaves. I also got three pizza bottom slices. This cost me 10 euros. Normally this meal is around 16 euros and I can not find a way to justify this price. A bag of arugula on a plate is not a salad.
Do what I didnt and order a...
Read moreOfficially open until 9pm, every day, but do not get fooled! If you arrive Mon-Sat at 8.01 they will tell you kitchen is close (that they told us on Saturday). So you think now I know, i will arrive at 7 next day...but it is Sunday and guess what - kitchen closes at 7pm - despite the place still close at 9, as every other day. Not even a word about that on the webpage. Moreover when you ask them why it is so - they blame Tripla regulation even if restaurants next door are still talking customers in. I wont try to get there any more, congratulation for this bright way of managing...
