Sokos Hotel Tripla is modern and very comfortable hotel offering good value. I rate it 5/5 in each aspect.||I am happy I chose to stay at an other hotel than the hotel we so far have most usually used to stay at when visiting Helsinki. Tripla was brilliant in every single way. I had requested a room towards the Helsinki Cathedral and with a shower. Both requests got fulfilled. I was happy to get a superior room on 17th floor. The view was amazing! It was great fun to watch the big ferries arrive and depart the harbor. The room was spacious, light and very well cleaned. The hairdryer was the best I've ever had in a hotel. They have made an effort to get the lights very well planned both in the room and in the bathroom. The scent free Dermosil products were a big surprise and appreciated them a lot. The breakfast was really tasty, plentiful and there were a lot of specialties, i.e. porridge with blueberries. The dairy free options were also really good. Went for breakfast first day at 8.45 and the second day at 6.45 and found easily an available table. The lifts worked really smooth and you didn't have to wait long to get one. In the lobby there are lockers that you can use if you need to store your luggage after checking out. The staff at the front desk is really friendly and they make you feel welcome in a very genuine way. I am convinced - Tripla is my new favorite hotel in Helsinki. It is also so easily reached when arriving by train to Helsinki, and the connections (tram, bus, local trains) from Tripla to the city center are second to none. ||I also would recommend to try the restaurant Fredde's, located next door to the hotel. It doesn't appear when using the link, in the welcoming email from the hotel, about restaurants close to the hotel (it is though the closest one). Fredde's staff is also very welcoming and the food is really tasty and good value for money. And the cinema one floor up in the mall is really modern and of...
Read moreStandard Sokos hotel in the tripla complex, next to the Pasila station. There is poorly organised information about hotel guests, the shopping mall, and discounts you could avail of. Auto check in might have been better... I stayed on the 9th floor, and the view was a grassy patch of a central court that nobody could use, despite the signs that it'll be a walkway. Maybe this is due to to the relative newness of the place. Absolutely no chance of an early breakfast, not even 2min early. I reserved a particular room type, as advertised on the pictures. They could not provide it. Real pity, as the tripla complex is a really good way to spend a Saturday night in Helsinki. The hotel was a disappointment though. The room has large mirror to make it feel larger... Maybe good for the particularly vain! Bed was horrible, having back pain after a couple of hours of sleep. Sauna was really tight for such a big hotel. Massive gym, no one was using it... Lifts (3) were slow. Sokos hotel architecture could do with some rethinking. On a plus, breakfast was good though, although I was in a hurry to enjoy it. Unfortunately, other places in Helsinki offer more comfort than this too stay there just for...
Read moreThe hotel is very nice, no doubt. The staff has clearly been selected and trained well, as they were very friendly in a way that felt genuine. The room was very, very comfortable in every respect. Ours was a standard room with a king size bed. It was spacious, quite elegant actually, and very, very quiet - to the point we actually paid attention to just how quiet it was. Both of us slept extremely well. Though try to get a room with a view towards the city if you can, as the courtyard is just bleak. We also greatly enjoyed the breakfast; good selection all-round.
The downsides? The check-in was quite slow. Most of the time you don't have to fill in those lengthy traveller information documents, particularly if you're a citizen. Why here? And surely they should have received my info when making the reservation? Anyway, that was a minor issue. The reason it's a four- and not a five-star review is the location. The mall the hotel is located in is horrendous. Unless you're into big malls. If so, you might like it. Also,Pasila is not an interesting...
