Local Bistro — Restaurant in Joensuu sub-region

Right before the pandemics we got a gift voucher to have dinner in this restaurant. The voucher was only valid for 6 months and during that period, the restaurant remained closed. When we tried to make use of the voucher, the owner claimed it was expired. The mail response stated: "I fully understand your frustration, but we too are forced to draw the line to something. We, too, have had a lot of responsibilities and payments for which we have not received any flexibility or credits". There was no effort to make an understanding or negotiation on the issue, even we accepted some losses from our side. The main argument: extension of expired gift cards was "in any way mandatory even during Covid-19", which is against the EU recommendations, but in line with the loose current Finnish law on protection of consumer's rights. Joensuu is a small community, and a local restaurant like this should know better how to treat its loyal customers. Even worst, it is bad-business attitude: this tiny profit to cover pandemics costs results in much larger opportunity costs for all occasions we avoided the place after this event. A...

Really good place where you can have a special dinner. The service and people who work there are lovely and they make you feel at home. The local is cozy. One of the most fancy local you can find in Joensuu. Unluckily the prices are high (around 20-40 euros) but I think it's well worth it. They accept reservations also at the last minute. So if they say "they are full" just try to call them later. About food.. it looks really tasty. They have an option for vegans (pumpkin) at least one. Nice idea to make Finnish food street food style. Food was ok, some combinations very nice. They use a lot of dairy in almost all of the dishes which means the dishes for people with dairy allergies have more reduced content. Waiter had good suggestions for wine pairing and they had really nice cocktails and mocktails too. Nice interior. Somewhat slow service and the waiter did not know the content of all dishes (what we got was not what he told us: sweet potato is not avocado)....
