Ravintola Kreeta — Restaurant in Joensuu sub-region

The Kreeta restaurant is one of its kind in joensuu. Set in a iconic building by the river, the restaurant can attract many people. A family run restaurant, Kreeta makes use of its position and hosts nationality flags giving it the appearance of internationalism. However once in, there is chaos and disarray among the staff and the environment. Another feature of this restaurant with has open urinals. I bought the top item on the menu, which, if bought in Greece would be at most, even in main tourist areas of Athens, 8e. But here, they charged 12e for lunch. The food was OK too, but nothing amazing. They also sold some Greek olive oil. It was OK oil, but nothing to rave about, and certainly not worth paying 10e for. For olive oil lovers, the taste was mild, but it did eventually have the bitterness and bite that didn't make the oil that enjoyable. Friendly, open and popular -ish family restaurant in Joensuu city centre. Food is delicious, it's a bit more towards home cooked food than fine dine food but that's probably the reason why the food is so popular. It's delicious and I think the portion sizes are good. This isn't a restaurant where you eat like a pig 🐖 and I think portions are sized well. Not sure if the flavours are a bit more "Finnished" and not awfully strong because of that but it's delicious still. I'd hoped for a bit more of flavour though. And a bit more olives in the salads etc, one olive per salad in Greek restaurant is just...

We kindly asked if our dog was welcome to the terrace, and we were welcomed with a smile. Even offered water and a bowl for the dog. Seemed nice. All of a sudden we were told (nicely) that our dog had to be outside the fence and on a hot summer day the dog needed shade and for this we had to change the restaurant. We even got a minute to take a look at the menu and drinks, which all looked good. Shame - would've loved...
