Read moreA very busy place for lunch in the extension to the old and preserved church Square kioski. For lunch they have a typical finish style approach where you have a salad, bread, water, tee/coffee included in the price. Todays menu there was a choice of either meat balls or grilled halloumi, served with lighted Mashed (lumpy, with skin) potatoes, in a mushroom sauce. The concept was simple as the only difference between the meat and veggie option was the meatballs or halloumi. Halloumi was grilled nicely, although I believe i was lucky as others that were prepared were slightly burnt. The meatballs I was told was exceptionally good. They had a nice texture and softness, and the owners of this place are known for their well known culinary talents. The lunches were also served and the wait wasn't too long, so that was a good bonus. Some improvement could be mean on the cleanliness of the plates and Cutlery (maybe dishwasher could be better), but that wasn't too observable. The place is also suitable for having a coffee or a snack with the light airy venue, lots of light from the glass and good air circulation. Overall, a fantastic concept to preserve the kiosk and make something better from it. Quality was exceptional, and pricing was acceptable, relative to other places in the area, this place could become a regular place to grab lunch. Evening meals have yet to...
Read moreTasty pastries and latte!
My friend and I used the cafe part of the Bistro a few days ago during my visit in Jyväskylä. I was very happy with my purchase of an almond filled croissant and vanilla latte. The atmosphere was cozy and elegant. The staff was smiling, friendly, patient (while we figured out from the good and appetizing-looking selection of sandwiches, sweet and salty pastries and buns, oh and specialty coffees and teas) and professional. I felt welcomed and enjoyed my stay so much we went back after a day or two again - this time to share a croissant and a britakakku with macha latte for me. I thought the prices were very reasonable compared to how tasty everything was, and the size and weight of the portions. The toilet room that was located downstairs was tidy. It is now a must visit place for me when in...
