Tivoli smørrebrød & øl — Restaurant in Tampere sub-region

We chose Tivoli based on its high Google ratings and our previous excellent experiences with authentic smørrebrød in Denmark. We ordered one fish and one meat “smørrebrød,” but what arrived was more akin to a generic dinner plate: a thin, uninspired slice of bread topped with supermarket-grade fillings, heavy on mayo and surrounded by salad-style sides. While the portion size was generous, the quality and presentation lacked the finesse and authenticity that define true smørrebrød. Service was basic—efficient but unremarkable. Something seems to have changed, this place used to be top notch. On my last visit i was a bit disappointed. My companion was pretty happy with her goat cheese and chicken sandwich, but my ham sandwich was a bunch of warm cold cuts piled with cheese. Too much salad with no dressing whatsoever. No mayo or any sauce in the sandwiches. I had to add salt and pepper to it. There were no table sauces available. The price (around 15€) is a bit steep for the current quality. Service is very friendly and fast too, though! Will give this place one more try, i think, as there really are not that many sandwich places around Tampere. The place is crazily understaffed. The food could have been good, but we never got to it since after 40 minutes of waiting it has turned out that they forgot about our order.
