U Campanile — Restaurant in Ajaccio

Located right in the heart of Piana, U Campanile lures you in with its reasonable prices and promises of traditional Corsican cuisine. Unfortunately, what it delivers is a textbook example of “you get what you pay for.”

On the positive side, the staff were friendly and efficient, which initially gave me hope. But once the food arrived, that hope quickly vanished. The cannelloni were overcooked and drowned in a bland sauce, while my figatellu sausage came burnt to a crisp, paired with limp fries that tasted of rancid oil. To make matters worse, the aftertaste lingered unpleasantly for hours.

Faced with such a disappointing main course, we didn’t even dare venture into the dessert menu and left without a second thought.

In short, U Campanile is a place I cannot recommend. Behind its central location and low prices hides a dismal kitchen that does a disservice to Corsican gastronomy. Consider...

Couldn’t really communicate with the staff. Asked for Latte, I got black coffee, couldn’t decipher the menu.

I accept not knowing French in France is not their problem but mine. However, simple word like “water” or “latte” or “chocolate” were drawing complete blank stairs. Stiamo valutando “1” solo perché è impossibile mettere “0”. È un posto acchiappa turisti, il personale è maleducato, le pietanze appena sufficienti e la pulizia inesistente. Ci fermiamo per colazione … ci viene offerta la loro proposta, 8€ a testa che avrebbe dovuto comprendere pane, burro, marmellata, bevanda calda e spremuta d’arancia. ci viene invece portato del pane (unica cosa accettabile, sperando non sia stato recuperato da altri cestini), burro confezionato SCADUTO da oltre un mese, marmellate confezionate di bassissima qualità e un succo di frutta all’ananas annacquato all’acqua.
