Eating at a one-star restaurant in a ski resort was a surprising first. We were welcomed by the chef with some lovely mushroom snacks and soup – they tasted fantastic right away. The decor was also really well done and cleverly incorporated a forest theme (though the leafy ceiling print wasn't my favourite bit, to be honest). The service was excellent; they explained each dish clearly and even wore gloves when changing our cutlery, which was a nice touch.
The food overall was very good. You could tell they used a lot of local ingredients and were creative with their cooking and presentation. I especially loved the truffle potato dish – it was brilliant. My only slight niggle was with the rainbow trout. It was cooked perfectly and was very tender, but I personally found it a little too fishy for my taste (even though I love fish and seafood). I'd probably prefer salmon. The cheese and blueberries dessert was also exceptional.
I'd definitely recommend giving this place a try. It was easy to book(we dined in end of season time), the prices were reasonable, and it actually felt like good value considering how expensive things can be in ski resorts. Read moreAn incredible experience. We knew from previous reviews it was expensive so we went for a special occasion. The restaurant and menu celebrates the forest and all ingredients are foraged and locally sourced. As soon as you walk into the restaurant you are surrounded by the forest decor and are invited into an immersive experience.
It is a blind menu with a choice of three or 5 courses. We went for 3 courses and it was priced at 148€ each. Before hand I would have been very reluctant to spend as much on a meal, however after experiencing it my opinion is that it's actually very good value.
The service was incredibly personal, very attentive and very professional. You are made to feel like the most important table in the restaurant. It really was outstanding service. They spoke excellent English and even humoured my attempts at speaking French.
The atmosphere was lovely, such a nice vibe, friendly and warm.
The food was 100% the stand out. By design nothing is intended to take your eye off of the food and the personal greeting from Clement Bouvier himself upon entering the restaurant was a really nice touch.
If you are in Tignes and are thinking of going, try it. Every dining experience I have now will be compared...
Read moreThe theme of the restaurant is "the forest" - that starts with the decor which includes tree logs as an seperator in the restaurant. Very nice and cozy but still elegant. The theme is also integrated in the food by primary focussing on warm, full-bodied, earthy flavours. The food was absolutely delicious, but the heavy dishes took a toll on me and I had to give up when they served petitfours at the end. It was just a bit over the top. The wines in the wine pairing were acceptable but did not match the quality of the food. I wished there was an option to upgrade the pairing. Overall, it was a very good experience - the staff was friendly and smiling but also very busy, so there was a few times where I didn't had my wine served at the same time...
