Ébo Annecy : Restaurant | Bar — Restaurant in Annecy

The restaurant gets 1 star due to the rude waiter, but the bar gets 5 stars. We suspect the smug, unprofessional waiter (who was in charge last night) is a xenophobe who dislikes tourists. Either way, he should not be working in hospitality. We are celebrating our wedding anniversary in Annecy. We attempted to go for dinner at Ebo at 8.30pm and were polite and well dressed, since we work in media and regularly dine at excellent restaurants around the world. We are staying at the Hotel Imperial Palace nearby. There were plenty of empty tables at Ebo, but the waiter told us they were all reserved. I knew it probably wasn’t true. He said we could try again in 45 minutes or later. So, since it was quite late already, we decided (against my better judgment) to have a drink at the adjacent Ebo bar and wait until 9.15pm. We had a lovely conversation with the bar staff there about language and schools in different countries. The bar staff were very friendly and fun. When we went back to the adjacent restaurant at 9.15pm, even more tables were empty, although a few groups were still dining there, but the same waiter told us they were now closed! So, he had deliberately wasted our time. And he also would have known it would be hard for us to find anywhere else open by that time where we could eat our dinner. We were just leaving when the chef, who saw what happened and was clearly embarrassed by it, called to us and said “It’s ok, I will cook for you” and that we could eat at the bar, which was very kind of him. We walked back to the bar and told the staff what happened and they were really shocked, as well. So they told us they would make sure we could get some dinner and ran over to the restaurant. The chef and the bar staff were all fantastic - a huge contrast to the unpleasant waiter. The food was tasty but the experience with the waiter left a bad taste...

Edit : J'ai en effet décidé de faire un avis quelques semaines plus tard après notre venue, après avoir discuté de cette histoire avec des amis qui ont vécu une expérience assez similaire. Le constat a été le même : le service approximatif et les produits pas géniaux aux vues des tarifs pratiqués.

Je vous rassure, je n'ai pas ruminé, je n'avais pas initialement prévu de laisser un commentaire, mais les avis négatifs de mes proches mon convaincu du contraire, je me devais donc de partager ma mésaventure 🙂

De plus, la réponse à la légère du restaurateur concernant le comportement du staff ou de la facturation, me conforte dans ma position, c'est un restaurant que je ne recommanderai pas 👎

Ah et enfin, le burger chez BK était bon ! Il était chaud, correctement cuit, ne baignait pas dans son gras et n'était pas facturé à un prix insolent 🫢 Peut-être une leçon à en tirer pour vous ?

Résultat des courses = environ 1.2kg, servie tiède, 300g et qq de viande mangeable, le reste? Du gras et l'os.

Serveur attrapé au vol pendant l'habituel "ça va? Tout se passe bien ?"... Bah non ça va pas... 🤦🏼‍♂️ Sa solution : "ah mais en fait, le truc c'est qu'il faut manger le gras avec"... 🫥 ... et il se casse nous laissant sidérés.

Ah! Désolé! au temps pour moi... j'avais pas compris que j'avais commandé une "côte de saindoux!"

2ème serveur en fin de service prévenu, sa réponse : "ah ouais... Elle est un peu grasse effectivement"... Il nous dit qu'il va prévenir la cuisine... et ne revint jamais... (peut-être est il mort de honte, paix à son âme)

Je ne parlerai pas de la tomate burata à partager qu'on mangerait allègrement tout seul (oui, parce que la côte de bœuf était sensée être laaaaarge pour nous caler tous d'après le serveur) ... Ni des pommes de terres, qui ne sont même pas en accompagnement de la viande, mais en supplément... 🤦🏼‍♂️

Attention à la douloureuse : -138 balles de côte de bœuf, 300g mangeables, au prorata on est sur une viande à 460 balles le kilo (à ce tarif là, on est presque sur du wagyu hein...) -14 balles pour une tomate-buratta qui était aussi crémeuse qu'une boule de mozza de supermarché. -14 balles pour 2 p'tits bols de patates (qui étaient bonnes, faut leur reconnaître ça !)

Bref, 166€ pour 3 (soit 100g de viande par personne) quelques patates et un peu de tomate buratta...

Geste commercial ? Grand seigneurs, on nous a offert la bouteille d'eau (à moins que le serveur l'ait oubliée), une prestigieuse cuvée millésimée "San Pellegrino"... à 6€

Pour vous raconter la suite, on a fini chez Burger King (je déconne pas) car on mourrait de faim après le repas...

Ps : je ne parlerai même pas du bar attenant, où les cocktails sont tellement dosés en alcool que la police vous laissera partir après avoir soufflé, même après 4 verres... Si vous voulez garder votre permis, ce bar est fait...

We had a very upsetting experience because of this restaurant. My partner booked online in advance to celebrate our engagement which happened that day. Our reservation was cancelled 1 hour before. He phoned and explained the situation and was told they could not help him as they were prioritising customers who booked in person. No apologies or alternatives provided. His previous booking had also been cancelled but with more notice so he had already changed plans once - this was explained but again, no apology given. It was Friday so impossible to find an alternative, totally ruining the evening planned on a very special day… I understand that the restaurant has good reviews for it’s food, but a great restaurant is also defined by it’s service and the way it...
