We arrived in Bonnieux on a Wednesday, expecting all to be quiet, sunny, and as lovely as ever. But there was a Music festival going on in town and the place was packed and all the restaurants fully booked, so when we asked for a seat at a very busy Casa Bonilis we expected an instant Non! Instead, the front of house checked the diary and seating and found us a table mid restaurant and immediately gave us the menu and wine list...Relieved, we ordered a bottle of the local Château de Carnorgue(superb), for mains we chose the creamy sauce Ravioli and I had the Penne Bolognese, smothered with large strips of Parmasan...Delicious!! Although the place was super busy, our waitress Esther took time to chat with us, enquiring about if we enjoyed the meal, Wine, where in England we came from and general conversation which made us us feel so welcome. We ordered a Tiramisu to share for dessert, which was lucky because it was a bit on the large side, but again, it was homemade and perfect. Finally, both had a coffee and a couple of the local Thyme flavoured liqueurs, Farigoules 👌... So thanks to all the staff for our Casa Bonilis experience on such a difficult night.... Great food, and super service, and we will definitely be returning again next...
Read moreTonight 07/07/22 we ate at this restaurant because of their previous good reviews but please the food is awful. We had Focaccia and risotto for entrées what on earth is a slab of filled Focaccia doing as an evening entrées and the risotto with prawns the risotto was grainy and just smelled of fish, clearly the prawns were old or were frozen. Then to mains the bolognaise sauce was just not right with no flavour and grey mince meat . The veal escalope which was sloppy and greasy. I am not a food critique but I know good food when I eat it and this place is not the place to eat. The open kitchen is a nice touch but right next to the toilet and showing empty frying pans full of oil. The bottle of champagne although not expensive at 50 euros was terrible the whole restaurant appears as if they want to cram as many people in the place and have a quick turn over of tables. Very...
Read moreWe visited this restaurant twice during our week-long stay in Bonnieux and each experience was amazing. Quaint dining spot on a quiet street in this beautiful town. Everything our group ate on those visits was incredible and prepared with great care. The food and atmosphere was only made better by the restaurants’ staff. Everyone who waited on us was very friendly and helpful given that only one person in our group was able to speak French. Special shout-out to Esther who waited on our group both nights. She was very friendly, helpful and made our experience that much better. If you’re in town don’t miss this special restaurant. It was far and away the best two meals of our 14 days in Paris and...
