High quality food and an energetic atmosphere, but our experience was marred by an exceedingly snobby and rude server. Made us feel very unwelcome for the first 10 minutes we were there, and we even debated getting up and leaving. My french is conversationally OK for day-to-day use, but not great when it comes to more nuanced topics (like specifics of food dishes etc). We asked this first server for some help and all he did was turn around a big chalkboard and point to things. When i asked for clarification he responded with answers like "it's Chicken", as if the method of preparation was either obvious or unimportant. He then just walked off and was perhaps so disgusted by us that he didn't come back. Eventually another server came and helped us.
Fortunately, the experience was somewhat saved by the rest of the staff who were far more hospitable and friendly. Apparently “server A” felt that being an unhelpful douche is an essential part of their dining experience. Read moreHad a wonderful dinner at La Bergerie while staying at the Beaumier Capelongue hotel. We made a reservation through the hotel which was super easy and they accommodated our preferred time. Almost no wait when we showed up. Ordered the pissaladiere (regional pizza with candied onions) and the asparagus salad - both were delicious, with the salad being bright and refreshing. For main I ordered the duckling fillet with potatoes, grilled vegetables and a salad. The duck was tender, juicy and rich, as expected. For dessert there was one “dessert cocktail” option or a buffet of desserts of the day. I chose the buffet as that would give me more options, but after trying a few I couldn’t find any that wowed me, though that’s a matter of taste. They think the tourists are easy money. The one guy wirh the bald head and the silly hat. If you get him ask for someone else. Better get. Don’t go. if you own this place and read this you need to seriously change the culture of the employees as they are full of it. Then the food is terrible. You think you are going to a chef with 1 Michelin star, and all they ironically deserve is 1 Google star. Overdone steaks. Tuna that was in fragments. Lamb that was way too tough.
