Maison Valvert / Absoluut Valvert — Hotel in Apt

Maison Valvert has been our favourite holiday destination for several years now and I found the time had come to reflect on those experiences and update my previous review.||||As with great French wine the place,the hosts and the overall experience have with the years taken on that distinct maturity and class that makes prime rate products and services stand out from the rest.||||Hosts Cathy and Pierre as always take great care in making every single guest feel very welcome and ensuring that Maison Valvert remains that haven of peace and quiet that most of us are all looking for when taking a break.||||Both "B's" in B&B are of the highest standard at Maison Valvert. The 4 luxury bedrooms and a stunning tree house have all the comfort one would want, whereas the "Breakfast" is simply one of the best around with plenty of local delicacies and daily variations to keep one from having to look for lunch most of the time.||||The addition of airconditioning, the upgrading of the swimming pool area with loungy furniture and the addition of 3 high end "gites", complete with private terraces and kitchenettes, will ensure that every type of even the most demanding vacationer will find it a place to their liking which they will surely want to return to.||||Over the years, the place has grown also more and more international so don't be surprised to be sharing the breakfast patio with Italians, Germans, Brazilians, South Africans or even the odd Briton who come to the region for wine tasting, walking, site seeing or simply enjoying the mediterranean climate with the best possible amenities without having to go to one of the overpriced and choked-with-spoilt-children resorts...

Conosco a sufficienza la Provenza e la zona del Luberon per poter affermare con ragionevole certezza che la Maison Valvert è di gran lunga una delle migliori Maison d'Hôtes della regione. Cathy e Pierre rappresentano la quintessenza della gentilezza, della cordialità, dell'efficienza, della disponibilità e della discrezione. Essi dispongono di quella misura che fa talvolta difetto a molte delle strutture presso le quali abbiamo soggiornato mia moglie ed io in passato. La presenza e l’attenzione ai desideri e alle necessità degli ospiti è puntuale e attenta, ma sempre assolutamente rispettosa della loro intimità e privacy. ||La colazione è un gioiellino di raffinatezza e di gusto provenzale, in grado di soddisfare le esigenze più particolari. A disposizione vi sono prodotti della regione: dai formaggi di capra a quelli di pecora, dal miele di lavanda alle marmellate fatte in casa, dalle insostituibili e inimitabili baguette, alle pagnottine ai cereali e alle sfogliatine fresche di boulangerie; un cestino di frutta di stagione con la possibilità di spremersi personalmente le arance. Ogni mattina, poi, Cathy, impreziosisce l’offerta con un “élément surprise”: un formaggio bianco al miele di timo, uno yogurt bianco con autentico sciroppo di ciliegie, porzioni di riso al latte fatto in casa ecc.||La colazione è molto conviviale e il carattere estroverso, ma nel contempo garbato e colto di Pierre e l’amabilità e la spontaneità di Cathy contribuiscono a rendere questo momento particolarmente apprezzato.||Dal profilo logistico, la Maison Valvert è inserita in un contesto naturalistico invidiabile; a poche centinaia di metri dalla sommità dello splendido villaggio di Bonnieux (reso universalmente noto dalla pellicola di Ridley Scott “Un’ottima annata”) e immersa nella macchia mediterranea, essa si affaccia sul piccolo Luberon, potendo nel contempo vantare un soleggiamento impareggiabile e una quiete rara.||Le stanze sono arredate con delicatezza, gusto e un pizzico di provenzale leggerezza. ||Una menzione particolare va fatta poi alla gradita abitudine di mettere a disposizione degli ospiti, nell’ora pomeridiana dedicata agli aperitivi, una serie di spuntini da accompagnare a un buon bicchiere di Côtes de Provence: "olives aux herbes provençales, tapenade, confit de tomate et pain aux olives". Inoltre, per gli amanti dell’espresso italiano (in un paese certamente non famoso per il caffè…), Cathy e Pierre dispongono di una macchinetta della Nespresso con capsule dei più comuni aromi (decaffeinato compreso), che è pur sempre meglio di niente…||Da aggiungere che (e di ciò non se ne abbiano a male i giovani genitori) alla Maison Valvert NON sono ammessi bambini al di sotto dei 12 anni compiuti e per quanto mi riguarda questa limitazione, oltre a essere pienamente condivisibile, è stata per noi altrettanto determinante nella scelta!||In conclusione, mi permetto di replicare all’utente Guezou che su Trip Advisor ha espresso un giudizio fortemente critico sulla Maison Valvert. Quanto alla lamentela sulla mancanza di una porta del bagno, che lo avrebbe costipato per 3 (!!!) giorni, lo invito a sfogliarsi qualche rivista di architettura per rendersi presto conto che i più grandi designer del mondo da Frank Ghery a Ieoh Ming Pei, da Zaha Hadid a Philip Johnson, da Tom Wright a Renzo Piano, da Jean Nouvel a Mario Botta da tempo (a volte persino da prima che lei probabilmente nascesse) hanno sostituito le porte delle toilette con accorgimenti stilistici straordinariamente innovativi e meno claustrofobici (con buona pace dei profumi…). Dopodiché, la lagnanza sull’uso incondizionato da parte dei proprietari della Maison d’Hôtes del fiammingo, che a suo dire avrebbe costituito un ostacolo insormontabile alla comunicazione, devo smentirla categoricamente! Cathy e, soprattutto, Pierre sono poliglotti e, oltre ovviamente al fiammingo, parlano correntemente il francese, l’inglese e, che lei ci creda o no, pure un poco di italiano. A questo punto il sospetto è che lei fosse in quel frangente l’unico a parlare una sola lingua! Non se ne abbia a male signor Guezou, ma per quanto io sia fedele al detto latino “degustibus non est disputandum”, da un utente che indica Las Vegas come la città preferita non mi aspetto di certo apprezzi e comprenda le bellezze...
