Visited on June 3rd. This was part of our weekend’s 3 village tour. 😁.
First was Bonnieux (had breakfast at Brasserie La Terrasses), then Lacoste and finally to Roussillon. By the time we got there, surprised there were a lot of visitors.
Finding a place to park was a major issue. Waited patiently before finally getting one. It allows only a 45 minutes duration. Had to return a couple of times to reset the blue parking plaque.
Walked around a bit, took some great photographs of the red clay cliffs. Then we decided to “see to our hunger”. Found Du Côté de Chez Charles.
The entrance is the top floor. You need to go down 2 flights of stairs to reach the first terrace. The final flight takes you to the garden terrace, where we sat.
They placed lots of sunshades around which makes the atmosphere bearable, away from the sun. It is also cooling with the plants around the terrace.
Ordered the La Jambon pizza to share and a lemonade. Pizza came, cut it up then straight into the chow down. Yummmz!
One of the best pizzas we have tasted, other than the one in Sorrento, Italy and Ghent, Belgium. They used fresh cherry tomatoes. And the mozzarella cheese. Wow! Just tasted awesome.
Later, we ordered a panna cotta. That tasted good too.
Their personnel are friendly and pleasant. Joked with customers too.
Pay them a visit when in Roussillon. Prices are...
Read moreFirst of all I must state that this is one of the prettiest restaurants I have ever visited. In a most picturesque village in the mountains between lovely houses in every shade of ochre with a view to old ochre-mines... a dream!!! The food... well, that's a different story. We had a pizza that was somewhat OK, the carpaccio ditto. The lasagna was bad. The chicken - simply not edible. When the waitress (who was from the star impolite) asked why we didn't finish the food, my wife admitted that the reason is the lack of taste and the unchewable dryness of the meet. You should see her reaction! She answered in a most vulgar manner and called for the chef lady - why, she was not only vulgar, she opened a dirty mouth on my wife, shouting and cursing...
In every restaurant can happen that a customer is unhappy with their food. Usually the personnel apologises; maybe even offers some compensation - a reduction in the price or a free dessert - not here! We felt lucky that were not attacked phisically attacked.
I only recommend this joint for masochists and lovers of bad taste - in foid...
Read moreI visited this cafe/restaurant for lunch in August. My friend wanted to eat but I just wanted a coffee. We sat at the tables outside, of which there are approximately 10, 2 of which were in use. My friend ordered from the menu and I stated I didn't want to eat. The elderly owner/manager stated that if I wasn't eating we would have to sit in a different area or leave . We left. No fuss made. We felt the owner/manager was rude and during a quiet period of day was acceptable to sit together if only one of us was eating. There are many other cafes and restaurants within the beautiful village of Menerbes who are more than happy to...
