L'Epi d'Or — Restaurant in Argelès-Gazost

This small restaurant was recommended to me by another local establishment and can only be described as small, local, friendly with an amazing selection of food.

For starters i had the Bigourdane Gallett which is very similar to a crepe filled with cheese, fillet of duck, herbs, cream, leeks and plenty of garlic. This alone could of fulfilled me as a main course but it was exceptional. The establishment offer a selection of around 10 different Gallett's and i would have this again alone.

Im not sure how i found space but i did and had the home made Lasagne. Although it looks small do not let its size put you off, the dish is bursting full of flavour and tastes just as good as a home cooked version with a lovely accompaniment of salad around the edge.

For drinks i had a small bottle of a locally produced red wine which was recommended by the wonderful waitress. Saint-Mont Tertre Sud (Domaine de Maouries) can only be described as a light and rich red wine, not as full on as Bordeaux but just as nice and complimented the lasagne perfectly. Definitely a must if you want something different from Bordeaux and a must for those wanting to sample local vineyards.

For me Dessert was the best part, never before have i had a Pear or Pineapple sorbet. The pear immediately made me smile, you could taste all of the notes of the fruit and it still retained that distinctive light brown shade of a pear. I didnt want it to end however when it did the Pineapple sorbet was a good close second, again you could taste all of the notes of the fruit and it was without a doubt one of the best sorbets i have ever tasted.

Located in a pretty calm street which makes it nice to sit on the terrace. Nice aesthetics and friendly personnel. Speaking English is no problem here so that's a big plus.

The choice of pizzas is not bad either and it tasted pretty good. If you're in Lourdes and looking for a nice place to eat pizza for a reasonable price then I would for sure...

Excellent service. En plus de fournir un très bon service de restauration, il a pris le temps de fournir des informations touristiques détaillées à partir de son téléphone portable. Quant à la nourriture, la viande à sa pointe, plat copieux, desserts savoureux. La chambre confortable et propre. L'emplacement est à quelques pas de la forteresse du château et à quelques mètres de la route Bernadette Soubiruos. Parking à proximité, la première heure et entre midi et 14h00 est gratuit, le reste est payé. Félicitations.

Excelente atención, aparte de entregar un muy buen servicio de Restaurant, se dio el tiempo para proporcionar información turística detallada desde su celular. En cuanto a la comida, la carne en su punto, plato abundante, sabrosos postres. El local acogedor, limpio.
