🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 L'Épicerie du Cloître – A Hidden Gem in Arles!

We discovered L'Épicerie du Cloître on our first day in Arles, kicking off our Uniworld river cruise — and what a find! Tucked away off the beaten path, this charming spot delivered one of the most memorable meals of our trip.

We had no reservation, so we arrived right at noon when they opened. Within minutes, the place was full — mostly locals, which says it all. Despite the 90+ degree heat, we sat comfortably under the shade, soaking up the relaxed and welcoming atmosphere.

The food? Incredible. We started with a vibrant, chilled gazpacho that hit all the right notes, followed by perfectly cooked octopus — tender, flavorful, and beautifully presented. A couple of glasses of crisp rosé wine tied everything together. Yum yum yum!

The service was warm and attentive, the setting was picturesque, and the food was simply top-notch. L'Épicerie du Cloître is one of those rare places where everything — food, service, and ambiance — hits 5 stars without even trying.

Do yourself a favor: go early, go hungry, and don’t miss this spot while in Arles. You’ll be...

Tourist trap who think all their customers are just stupid parisians or foreigners who just spend money on lousy service and poor food. The peak of the scam came when we ordered so called sea urchin tartar as a main dish and what we got was just a plate of cucumber slices with probably a quarter of the interior of a sea urchin, which is nothing or close to 3 grams of sea urchin.... And all that for: 16 euros! When we asked the waiter if the dish was mistakenly done he just didn't know what to argue and gave us useless comments about the ingredient of the dish with a dumb smile, aka we're just stupid and rich tourist ready to pay 16 euros for a sliced cucumber! This kind of place is a shame for France and French cuisine. Too bad for the owner (the hotel next door) we're not parisian tourist but Arles residents and we won't recommend this place to anyone coming to visit us. Please avoid this place, plenty of great restaurants with terrasses as...

WONDERFUL dining experience! My husband and I, along with another couple, had a wonderful dining experience here on a Tuesday evening in July. All the tables are outside of a chic hotel and we were seated under a large tree strung with lights. It is a magical setting. There were 4 waitresses working the area with an outside bar for them to make our drinks and a kitchen inside. The women were all professional, prompt, and personable. We ordered a ton of food and each was beautifully presented and delicious. We should have asked for the food to be spaced out, but came all at once which was fine for 4 hungry men. I HIGHLY recommend a...

No reservations accepted but we went straight in despite being v popular which was a portent for good. Exceptional nosh for a ‘quick’ lunch - 2 hours and in the Catalpa tree (very useful) shade . Chilled red wine - yum. Palatial and spotless loos to boot which is unusual. Pic of apricot clafoutis pudding is messy because we started wolfing it down in seconds! Green gazpacho, artichoke tapenade with ‘music sheet’ crackers and sardines. Empty plates !

I passed this place some years ago late at night wandering the streets and thought it would be a special place to have dinner. Tonight, it did not disappoint. The meal was most spectacular to enjoy as the magic of Arles flows around you here.

A very nice lunch and very friendly staff. The food was good and I had the lamb with rice. If I could make any suggestion it would be the lamb and rice needed a sauce as it was a little dry but apart from that it was a lovely experience.
