Les Cocottes — Restaurant in Arles

If you're just after dessert / coffee and cake, it seems this restaurant does not cater to this need. We walked past this restaurant for the pastries. We went in to sit down for coffee and dessert, however the waitress said that we couldn't unless we had dinner there. We already had dinner elsewhere and were only after coffee and dessert. The waitress was nice and explained, we asked 3 times in case we misheard, but by the third time, it was clear. It's a shame that we were we not able to sit and have coffee and a nice pastry in what looks like a lovely restaurant. Note that there was no one else in the restaurant at the time (it was around 9pm - 9.30pm). I can understand if the restaurant was busy or full, however there was no one at all. We ended up walking around the corner to Italian and bought the same pastries for $2 Euros each less and had our coffee and dessert there. Turned out alright in the end, just at another restaurant. The exterior was classy and inviting. With the dessert nicely displayed in a glass case. Interior was also warm and classy. However the experience with the food was another thing altogether. The chicken was pretty tasteless and bland. The fish, as can be seen, was undercooked at the thickest part. The fish meat could not be pulled apart easily and this was unacceptable. The menu is centered around a variety of dishes served in individual casserole dishes. I had an amazing cod fillet, perfectly seasoned, with steamed vegetables and a sauce worth enjoying with the fresh bread they provided as needed.
