I've been to a lot of resturaunts over my time and generally am not very picky and enjoy most things. I'm a very adventurous eater and open to try new things. I was recommended to go to this restuarant, one by my mother who had been there multiple years before and had a great experiance, and by a local who lived in Arles but had never actually been to the restaurant. I've never given a restaurant this bad of a review but from my experiance here I have to. I made a reservation and walked in and was seated, there was no menu and generally I have no problem with this as it was a tasting menu but I wasn't given any indication of price. I had some of the most beautifully decorated dishes that tasted almost all purely of salt. Honestly, I enjoyed maybe 3 of the dishes I was served out of 14. One was actually so salty and I believe had some mix of citric acid it actually burnt my tongue and taste buds. All in all the food was terrible and I continuously tried to get up and pay where I was told that more dishes were coming. I had no problems with the service all of the staff were very attentive and friendly but I felt like I had gone over to a friends house and was just eating the food to be nice. The food was just terrible. When I was finally allowed to pay I found to my surprise that my meal cost me 150 euros, and on top of that I was charged for the 2 glasses of wine that I had (Hoping it would make the food taste a little better) AND another 20 euro just for water. I found it interesting how little they cared that I had an absolutely terrible experience here, because my mom had said Jean-Luc Rabanel actually came out and talked to her personally. Maybe because she was a woman sitting alone at the time and I was a man sitting alone? No idea honestly, just wanted to let everyone who is considering going here to save your money and your mouth from some truely...
Read moreWhen we travel the world looking for great places to eat, we sometimes wonder if there are still special and delightful restaurants that surprise us. Yes, Greenstronome, despite its weird name is such a place. A restaurant with a chef who loves food and cooking. I was so lucky that he respected my preferences and prepared a special eight course vegetarian menu, including a couple of lobster dishes. I cannot thank him enough for this treat. The food is clearly first class, three stars from us! But it also is real food and not just a collection of fancy, intellectual creations. It captures a Provence spirit and a certain relaxed realness that is hard to explain but emphasized also by the special atmosphere, which others have criticized. This maybe appear as a somewhat shabby style, compared to other high end restaurants, still clean and beautiful, and may not be for everyone but we totally loved it. Overall, the only mistake we both made was eating too much (delicious) bread. Since all courses are clearly not tiny at all (against a global trend…), I was super full in the end but the desert could still not be left untouched! Thank you so much for an...
Read moreWe were very much looking forward to eating at the restaurant for lunch, however we were contacted in advance to have our booking changed to a dinner the following evening as the Chef had a medical emergency. 5 of the 7 dishes were fish, which i did not enjoy. The dishes were well presented however mostly in bowls with foam broth. My partner was very disappointed with the experience. This was especially borne out when today we lunched at Chateau La Coste restaurant near Cadenet, which is only a one star. It was truly a delightful lunch and afternoon. Each course was not only different but beautifully presented and so very tasty with perfect flavour combinations. I think L'Atelier could do well to spend some time at La Coste as the food was more than worthy of two stars compared with L'Atelier. Perhaps this is because the...
