Au Chineur Avignon — Restaurant in Avignon

The restaurant was overcrowded, and we were waiting in line as we did not have a reservation However, a group of people who came after us AND DID NOT HAVE A RESERVATION were seated BEFORE us, completely ignoring the queue. After being ignored for quite a while, we ended up seating ourselves at an empty table because it was obvious no one was going to help us.

Then came the real nightmare: it took like 1.5 HOURS for our food to arrive. When it finally did, it was absolutely awful. The food was bland and poorly cooked. My father’s fish (aioli provençal) was obviously frozen, it had zero freshness and tasted like it just came out of the freezer. To make matters worse, they served it with a steak knife instead of a proper fish knife, which shows how careless and unprofessional the service was.

My sibling ordered pasta, which was just pathetic. They literally just boiled some plain pasta and threw on a flavorless sauce. It was worse than anything you could make at home with zero effort. Completely unacceptable for a restaurant.

Overall, it was a huge disappointment. Terrible service, bad food, and a total lack of care or professionalism. I absolutely do not recommend this...

Tourist trap. The menu looked good: moules marinieres as the special of the day! The mussels were very disappointing: small and dry, completely overcooked, and in a bland broth. Pretty much the worst we ever had. The rest was better but unexciting. Good price for wine (pichet)! Service a bit snooty (we were a mixed group of locals and foreigners). My wife and I, Americans living half year at our home in Uzes frequent this restaurant when in Avignon. We love the atmosphere, enjoy the food. I am normally satisfied with the portions served, especially at lunch, I get it, restaurants are challenged everywhere. Today at lunch we received a portion of veal blanquette that almost not visible. My wife felt so bad for me she gave me half of her microscopic portion.
