🚫 Worst Restaurant Experience in Normandy – Rude Owner & Not Pet-Friendly
The owner himself was the worst. Bad attitude from the start — not welcoming at all. We had just arrived and were given a table. We had our small dog with us, and I politely asked for a chair so she could sit (in her bag) like she has in every other restaurant we’ve visited in Normandy. She’s small and quiet in the bag, and other places allowed it with no problem.
But the owner asked us to leave. What’s wrong with letting a small dog sit in a bag on a chair? I even explained that if she stays on the ground, she tends to bark — and I don’t want to disturb other guests. But for him, it’s apparently fine for the dog to bark on the ground instead of sitting quietly in a bag on a chair. Make it make sense.
He is by far the worst we’ve encountered in Normandy. The energy he gives off is just awful. Even if the food was great (it’s not), it’s hard to enjoy anything with that kind of treatment. The food is also overpriced and not worth it at all — very small portions. The iced tea wasn’t good, and the server made a mistake and served us a different starter from what we ordered. The shrimp dish had only 6 small pieces, and the pork filet mignon was tiny. The crêpe was way too sweet — we’ve eaten lots of crêpes all around Normandy, and this one doesn’t compare.
The service was slow, and servings were small. Never ever coming back. There are so many better restaurants in Normandy — with great food, kind people, and pet-friendly service. I’m happy to wait for his reply — let’s see what kind of excuse he gives this time. Just check all my other reviews: they’re all 5 stars, except for this one, because this rude old guy (you’ll know him — white hair and always there) truly ruined the experience.
We will never patronize your restaurant again, and I’ll also be posting about this in Facebook groups so others are aware of how badly you treat your customers — especially those with pets. I’ve also read other 1-star reviews describing the same pattern: he enjoys asking customers to leave. I’ve seen his arrogant replies on Google too — it’s clear he doesn’t care and will never change. So I’ll make sure to share this in travel and tourism Facebook groups with over 500,000 members — people deserve to know how this restaurant treats visitors. Tourists and pet owners...
Read moreAbsolutely fantastic!! From the warm, helpful & friendly welcome (& farewell), by the older man, to all the staff who served us, the atmosphere, comfort and the food - ten out of ten. The touch of providing water at the table is excellent; we had only had a couple of glasses and there was plenty remaining yet the waiter chose to replace it for another. You can clearly see that they are extremely well staffed and are an excellent team. We loved too that the restaurant clients were mainly French people although we were grateful that the waiters spoke English (as our previous reasonable level of French has been overtaken by speaking Spanish for 7 years).
I hadn't eaten anything for six days due to being very unwell. I had only managed a little puréed baby food up to 12 hours previously. So, seeing their pollock (Dos de Lieu Noir), served with white rice (or potato) and cooked vegetables was perfect for my first meal again. I had to put the delicious sauce to one side as I couldn't have that yet, unfortunately. The whole meal was perfect. Rice, I usually find very disappointing in non-Asian restaurants but this was not - it was good rice, cooked to perfection and very tasty. I would go back in a heartbeat.
This was a huge moment for me and a welcome return to normality after a difficult 6 days. Thank you La Casa de Quentin - who knew none of my history yet treated me with such kindness and...
Read moreTalk about finishing with a bang - On our last meal in France, we happened across this restaurant as it was close to Carrefour and we needed supplies after an afternoon spent at Mont St Michel.
Service - 5* Friendliness of staff - 5* Food quality - 5* Value for money - 5*
Honestly I couldn’t recommend it enough. They were so kind and welcoming for our brood of let’s face it ultra loud kids, and the €9.50 menu enfant was the best we’ve had throughout our travels which started in Paris and had us traverse various towns in Normandy. The homemade lasagna was a huge hit with even our picky 4 year old, she ate more here than she has since we arrived a week ago. The portions for mains and desserts were really generous. And they actually serve veggies with their meals!!
We didn’t have to ask for more iced water or bread, their baguette was sublime and the refills kept coming - our kids must have polished off 4 baskets between them.
Overall if I could give this place more than 5* I would. Thank you for the...
