Restaurant LE 29 Pontorson — Restaurant in Avranches

Gave this place a go since the google rewievs were so high. Lovely atmosphere of the interior. The server was really polite and friendly and spoke english quite well. Me and my lady both took the 3 course menu, and for the kid we took the childrens menu.

Overall we really loved the salmon tartare. Well balanced, fresh, acidic. The sushi we took was bland but that was our fault since we missed the soy sauce that came on the side. Mains were nothing particulary special. The food was good but I somehow expected more. Lamb was lacking seasoning and better sear. The potatos were really nice but I was missing something fresh on the platter, couple of leafs of salad didnt satisfy me. The reduction sause was punchy and full of flavour. Steak was ordered medium well but somehow ended beeing rare if not blue . My kid didnt complain so I didnt complicate. Was seasoned well but again, lacked some more sear and crust. The scalop chowder was abit bland aswell and lacked balance.

Deserts were sadly nothing special again. Chocolate cake tasted more like brownie, with nothing intense happening in my mouth. Whipped cream and powdered shugar on the plate was unnececary. Mini profiteroles were in the owen for a minute 2 long, the icecream filling didnt fit my taste with the chocolate. The icecream with strawberys was ok. The wine was great. Loved the chardonay, also the red one I took (forgot to look at the label-was probably somekind of either cab. frank/sauvignon or a cuvee).

Overall the expectations were high, but the food didnt quite deliver. But regardless, we enjoyed the overall experience, and Id give it another go since some of thr dishes were...

Notre expérience au restaurant Le 29 à Pontorson a été tout simplement exceptionnelle. Dès notre arrivée, nous avons été accueillis chaleureusement par le personnel, dont la gentillesse et le professionnalisme se sont ressentis tout au long de notre repas.

Le cadre du restaurant est à la fois charmant et élégant, créant une atmosphère conviviale et raffinée. La décoration soignée, avec des touches modernes et des éléments traditionnels, contribue à une ambiance agréable et détendue.

En ce qui concerne la cuisine, chaque plat était un véritable délice. Les ingrédients utilisés sont manifestement frais et de haute qualité, et les saveurs sont parfaitement équilibrées. Nous avons particulièrement apprécié le tartare de saumon, d'une fraîcheur incomparable et parfaitement assaisonné. L'agneau pré-salé était également une merveille, avec une cuisson parfaite et des saveurs sublimes. Les noix de Saint-Jacques, quant à elles, étaient fondantes et magnifiquement mises en valeur par une préparation délicate. Enfin, le poisson, d'une fraîcheur exceptionnelle et superbement préparé, a été un véritable régal.

Le service était irréprochable : rapide, attentionné et toujours avec le sourire. Nous avons également eu le plaisir de converser avec le chef Patrick Bernard. Il nous a parlé de cuisine, de culture et de ses différentes professions, ayant eu trois vocations distinctes avant d'ouvrir son dixième restaurant ici à Pontorson. Ses histoires passionnantes et sa passion pour la gastronomie ont ajouté une dimension unique à notre expérience.

En somme, Le 29 est un véritable bijou gastronomique à Pontorson. Je recommande vivement ce restaurant à tous ceux qui souhaitent vivre une expérience culinaire mémorable. Nous y retournerons sans hésiter lors de notre prochaine visite dans la région.

Stopped for lunch, after visiting Portorson Market on Wednesdays. Market is very good, as is this restaurant. Limited menu which I am OK with as it generally means that food is fresh and cooked well and it was. Portion size is not huge, thank goodness, explains why French are not as obese as British and Americans. 2 Prix fixe menus at lunch time, in retrospect I should have gone for the cheaper 3 course which my wife chose. Half bottle of white wine was excellent, as was coffee afterwards. Looking forward to visiting again in...
