Bistrot Maurice — Restaurant in Bordeaux

We went for the Sunday chicken and oysters. Reserved, arrived on time. No oysters. 25 minute wait to order and not even a bottle of water before then.

30 euros for half a chicken, with no leg or thigh, no flavour, no salt on the chips, and some so called mayonnaise thing that was so bland I thought I must have got COVID and lost my sense of taste. Alas, when I asked for some ketchup to try and redeem the mayonnaise, M Snobby McChartrons snootily replied that of course, they don't have anything like that at their establishment.

Bref, ate paid and got the hell out of there ASAP.

Oh and there was a table of bogans chain smoking cigarettes and swearing like sailors just next to us. Always a nice...

I say everything by saying that I went twice during my stay in Bordeaux. They have a monthly menu with 4 dishes to choose from. I tried therefore 4 different dishes and it was delicious. Without being pretentious there were very special dishes, well balanced and with fresh ingredients. The tartar with bone marrow was mellow and soft and the risotto with cod was as well. Great and nice location. It is a small place so make sure to make a reservation. Would not hesitate to go again and try the other dishes. Location was great, Right on the main path along the river . We had the daily special - crispy beef roasted zucchini homemade puree. The beef was a bit tough, but the flavors were excellent. As a starter we had a sweet potato covered with just the right amount of something between cream cheese and crème fraîche. Service was outstanding - One waiter for the entire restaurant.
