Very glad we found this place to eat at.
It’s fully vegan but as a meat eater you should try the “chicken satay”, it was super delicious and succulent.
You should book ahead, especially for a Friday. We got in without a reservation but we’re lucky to do so.
The menu is the perfect size to give ample choice without feeling overwhelmed.
We chose the chicken satay and tacos to start. Both were amazing and were my favourite part of the meal.
The mains we both chose poke bowls. One tofu one the vegan chicken. I would have liked some more of the of the vegan meat included as it the centre piece of the dish. The sauces you get with these bowls are not to be missed. Full of flavour and really bring it all together.
We did manage deserts too. They have a choice of three. Crème brûle Peanut butter brownie Banoffee pie We bought them all because the prices were fair and we love trying as much as possible. I would say these need some work. The brownie was too heavy and dry, especially with the peanut mousse. I would swap to a peanut butter or coconut icecream. The banoffee desert was fine, it was a little bitter and could do with a nicer crème. The crème brûlée was nice and I like how the use of mango.
These opinions didn’t stop us eating it all however! And their prices are very fair.
Definitely a place i would...
Read moreCame around 1:45PM knowing they will close in 45mins. Asked if we can take a seat on one of the many empty tables outside and have a drink (it was hot as hell) and I was told “they don’t cook anymore as they are only 3 people there so are fully booked to be able to serve everyone” which I completely accept. Followed up with “and you can not only have drinks here”. Which I find completely bizzare as those tables are empty and no one can take them and eat (place is fully booked right?) so I am basically offering free money instead of empty tables. Really bizzare encounter. And lady spoke good English it was not a translation misunderstanding. Just wanted to sit and have a quick drink, jheeeeze.
Edit: sorry I don’t think it is an unfair review. I stood at the bar pointing my finger at the fridge with drinks saying “I can not have one of those? Why? I am thirsty” and the lady just stood there looking at me like I am an idiot. There was no effort to explain anything to me at all. I came around the restaurant back after shopping around the corner 10mins later and exactly where I wanted to sit was an older couple drinking one of the sodas I pointed at in the fridge. Sorry, completely fair review...
Read moreFirstly, I am not a vegan. This is five stars no matter your dietary preferences, choices, or needs. The meals are delicious with authentically Indonesian inspiration with a personal / vegan twist (I lived in Indonesia for four years, mostly in southeast Sulawesi but also six months in Bali).
I can especially recommend the amazing Sunday brunch, which is out of this world and competitively priced. It's not cheap, but you get a lot of food for your money!
I love the decor and the whole atmosphere. Make sure you book in advance as this is a popular venue. The restaurant has a small and super friendly staff. This is not fast food - the service is not slow, but don't expect to be served in a rush. It's all about the experience so enjoy spending time in this really cute little place.
PS - I don't understand some of the low reviews, it seems you really can't please everyone. How anyone can think the food lacks flavour here I just don't know! And yes, there will be peanuts, and the restaurant makes it very clear that peanuts are central to many of...
