Café des Arts — Restaurant in Bourges

Le Café des Arts is my favorite place to eat in Sancerre. There are lots of great places for different tastes and preferences, however. There is no pretention at the café. The whole staff is friendly and upbeat and any meals I've had have been great. They have a large outside dining area as well inside seating. The menu is varied in choices as well as price. Their sandwiches at 4.50€, as of this writing, are delicious and they have a variety of more formal type meals. And I'm a regular consumer of their deux boules de glace à la chantilly! It's fun to hear them ring a bell whenever somebody puts a tip in their tip jar. It's not a sophisticated place but you should enjoy the food and the light-hearted atmosphere. What a little gem! The staff is brilliant! Friendly, funny but very professional! The food is delicious and very good value for money! We went for a drink yesterday while having a look around in Sancerre. We looked at the menu and decided to return today for lunch! And it was amazing! Visited Sancerre on a poor weather day, windy & bouts of rain, so the place was very quiet. We wanted to sit in a covered location outside but as were 3 we were told we could not sit at a larger table, despite the outdoor part being pretty empty & it being late in the day, so they weren't expecting a rush.

My omelette (lardon-crottin) was delicious. Salade Sancerre & Crottin magret were deemed very good too. The bottle of Pouilly was better than many tastings we had. (Tried to get it online but site said it was sold out.) Good value for a...
