La Banque bar à vins — Restaurant in Bourges

Stopped tonight for a drink with my husband. Bartender waitress brought menus to the table—I explained that I spoke English. She asked if I would like an English menu and I declined—easy enough to understand the drink offerings in French. I understand more in writing and listening than I can speak. She seated another couple. Returned to get their order and prepare their drinks, deliver them. And walk right by us without asking us if we wanted to order. Also served another couple at the bar. We waited another 5 minutes and then left.

Nice decor and looks like a great place to have a drink. But I guess only if you are French? Or speak French?

She did speak English, and there were what appeared to be two other wait staff or bartenders working. But it wasn’t super busy, one staff member actually sat down with a group seated near the bar.

Went to this bar with my family at 21:45 on a Thursday night, having called in advance to make sure it would be open. The owner assured us, yes of course it would be open! However, on arrival, all of the bar staff were smoking out the front: they’d been sent home early because there were no customers. Not a great sign.
