La Maison — Restaurant in Briançon

The food was absolutely fantastic and we cannot fault it. The restaurant itself is well decorated and has a lovely vibe. The waitresses were very kind too. Our experience was made unpleasant by who we think is the owner. While lighting the fire in front of us, he shouted over our table to the wait staff at the bar. After doing this, he was then behind us shouting up the stairs to another staff member. He then proceeded to take two facetime calls, which we wouldn't have minded had he not been so loud that we couldn't hear one another very well. As we left, he said something to the effect of "learn french next time" while a group of his friends laughed. We're not fluent in french and not confident speaking, but we understood enough. Absolutely one of the highlights of our recent stay in La Salle les Alpes, in fact our group of two families enjoyed our first evening at La Maison so much, we returned twice more in the week, including for my birthday. I couldn't think of a better place to celebrate: excellent menu of delicious food (and no problem to adapt dishes for vegan/vegetarian), good wine choice, lovely ambience and great music, but especially the warm welcome and super friendly service from Laure and the whole team. Incredible food, head chef/owner was so nice and energetic, one of our favorite experiences on our honeymoon throughout France. We are two American women traveling on our honeymoon and I was so happy for my wife to get to speak French here. The owner took a video with us and sent it to his family in America, it was so sweet. And then to close it all off, he gave us this incredible liquor at the end… ahhhh such a nice experience.
