We came here with friends who'd been many times before, when it was owned by the previous owner and always had a great meal. Unfortunately, this was nowhere near as good. They have a sitting at 7.30 and another at 9.30. With quite an extensive menu pretty much everything is obviously precooked. The starters were very nice but the chicken main was so so overcooked. Each course comes up very quickly so the portions were clearly cooked and reheated, making them so dry you couldn't even cut it. The taste was very good but chicken should never be that dry. The beef cheeks were very good but for dessert two of us had apple crumble but the crumble far outweighed the apple, to the point you couldn't even taste apple. The final straw, was being told at 9.15 that the table was needed at 9.30 then having the people taking the table after us, standing by our table waiting for us to finish between 9.20-9.25. Very uncomfortable. My partner in the end, rather than gulp her wine down, had to leave it at 9.25 as we clearly had to leave!! Unfortunately this restaurant is now off our list in...
Read moreFrom start to finish the staff were all incredibly attentive and friendly, it really is amazing what they're able to produce from such a small kitchen! The restaurant experience itself feels very personal from the moment you walk through the door, with the manager Jack introducing himself and then carefully explaining the menu to us. He explained how they grow several of the vegetables in their own garden, and this really comes through in the freshness of the dishes. Every single person on our table of 7 was impressed with what they ordered..... And we all wanted to sample each others plates as they looked so good! (The chocolate and caramel dessert is a true masterpiece). Without question this is a hidden gem in Serre Chevalier, and one which we all can't wait to...
Read moreOur favorite restaurant in all of the Alps (and possibly all of France). La Marotte is incredible... It's beyond charming, cared-for and thoughtful. Jack, the chef and owner has kept the original go-to dishes and then added his own incredible flavor like beetroot hummus and tarragon chicken. Before my wedding last year we had a small dinner with friends and family and it was one of the most memorable parts of the whole weekend. From the hand-written menu to the warmth of the space and the perfectly cooked meals - there is love in every inch of this place. Thank you Jack for a dinner we will...
