Wine not? DIY at a rustic French Charmer

Tucked down the cobbled main street of the beautiful old town, this spot looks every bit the quintessential rustic French restaurant.

Surprisingly, the highlight for us was the wine — the list is long and well-curated. We chose a local bottle that paired perfectly with our meal.

For food, there are various set menus. We went for the popular cook-it-yourself meats option, which we saw many other diners enjoying too. It's not usually my thing, but we really got into it. The beef and chicken were especially tasty, and the fries were excellent.

The staff were clearly working hard and seemed a bit stretched, dashing between tables. While I genuinely enjoyed the experience, I had high expectations going in — and it didn’t quite hit the mark for a...

I spent one week with my boyfriend in Briançon and this is the only restaurant we visited twice (we would’ve went more times, but we found out about it only later during our holiday). I can say for sure that it is a wonderful experience. The staff is extremely friendly and kind, we felt welcome from the first second. The ambiance is wonderful, very relaxing and enjoyable. The food… I have no words to describe. At our first dinner we tried the onion soup, duck breast and duck leg and the chocolate fondant. 100/10!!! It overcame our expectations. The second time we had the pierrade. The meat was of very high quality and the vegetables and sauces were fresh. Great value for money, great quality, great taste and, overall, the best dinner experience we had...

Friday January 3rd we ate here. We had quite high expectations because of the high reviews. Cozy decorated restaurant with friendly staff the food was a bit disappointing. The terrine and camembert as a starter were not special. The trout was tasty but the carrot mousseline way too much, not in proportion and not special. The lamb shoulder was tasty but swam in the sauce, which I didn't like. The dessert was actually the best. Incidentally I also accidentally got a bottle of table water over me. I had to make do with an apology from the waitress. Then you don't understand the profession? Furthermore we smelled of the cheese fondue a day later because everyone around us was fonduing. Next time...
