La Cafetière Catalane — Restaurant in Céret

The Catalane sells a wide range of coffees and it has a small comfortable room with tables, chairs and pictures/posters in which to enjoy your drink. What I particularly liked were the helpful staff. They enabled me to choose the type of bean that would give me the balance of flavour which I preferred. I have not before been in a coffee cafe that did that. The result was spot on. The ambience is relaxed - no banging metal and big gurgling, hissing machines in an ambience of US masculinity - just a quiet, relaxed space where we can enjoy the flavours of whatever drink you feel like that day. The small, young staff are good natured and work very hard to get things as you want them. Tea and other drinks are served as well, and with the same levels of choice and care. There is also a outside space in which you can relax and watch everyone rush by. It’s my ideal...

Un conseil : n'y allez surtout pas. Vous perdrez beaucoup de temps, le service est désastreux, et le personnel n'a aucun respect pour les clients. On s'était installés alors qu'il n'y avait personne en terrasse, strictement aucun client. Le personnel passait son temps à discuter malgré notre présence. On a attendu 20 minutes avant que quelqu'un se rende compte de notre présence : Serveuse : - "ah vous venez d'arriver ?" Nous : - "euh non on attend depuis quelques temps déjà.." Serveuse : - "ah d'accord c'est votre chapeau qui m'a induit en erreur !" On n'a pas compris le sens de son commentaire, toujours est-il qu'elle n'est jamais revenue.. elle est repartie telle quelle sans prendre notre commande ! Et surtout j'insiste : sans jamais revenir..!

Ensuite on a vu une 2e serveuse passer devant nous, nous sourire..puis sortir son téléphone et partir dans la rue téléphoner..

En voyant tout ça après 30 minutes d'installation sans rien, et voyant ce manque de respect alors que l'on était les seuls clients, on a fini par partir.

Si un jour cet établissement fait faillite et ferme cela ne...

So when having rather simple things like a black tea or a flat white and these are simply excellent, you know you are at the right place. Very sympathetic atmosphere in the small garden like terrace in front of the shop, very nice service, absolute recommended. Did I say having had the best flat white outside Australia in Singapore?...
