La Boqueria — Restaurant in Céret

We were disappointed after keenly waiting an hour for a table, only to be sat at a table that wasn't made up with glasses for water for the first half hour (Every other table had these). We eventually got to order drinks, but note the Aperol Spritz as listed on the menu is to be avoided - It was not made correctly, I suspect lemonade and some other random ingredient was added but it was not drinkable. To their credit, this was not included in the bill. We weren't too bothered by not receiving any bread, despite all other tables having little baskets of bread, but it was difficult to enjoy the escargot without a plate or bowl to discard shells into - These were eventually brought out! The chicken skewers were good, but not recommended for the price.

Between the two waiters that served us, we didn't feel particularly cared for. The saving grace for this establishment was the attention of the wonderful young waitress who saw we were clearly being neglected and took it upon herself...

Poor overall experience. Judging by the unbelievable 4.5 stars this “restaurant” got on google maps, the C-team must have been at work today (this was a Monday)! Mulles with almost no sauce and completely lacked any taste. Dry salat and dry bread. Gambas al aiolo, basically just oil, with some thrown in garlic. Grilled gambas - also tasteless. Pretty shocking even by French standards. I tried to come up with something positive to say, I guess the credit card machine worked. Do yourself a favour and avoid...

Can accept that some people do not have the experience they did not wish for but never feel the need - unfortunately normally uk based - to be so negative about sn establishment. We are Scottish - spend half our time in Collioure - visit this restaurant once or twice a week. It delivers what is says in the tin - each day - evening - every time.
