Le Neuville — Restaurant in Caen

Came here on a wet and cool summer night. Place is very small and was fully booked, so agreed to sit outside.

The food arrived quickly and the server was friendly enough. Sadly, it went downhill after.

Finished the meal (was very good) but was left waiting for far too long. Even my plate wasn’t removed.

The server circulated around the inside tables and repeatedly checked on a large group who sat outside (next to me), while basically managing to not glance my way. It was raining, so I guess I wasn’t in a particular hurry to leave.

Can’t fault the food but the disappointing service dragged down...

Nice initial presentation, but the sweet crepes were disappointing. The ice cream on the house pancake wasn’t fresh: terrible old vanilla ice taste. The rhum flambé wasn’t lit eventually. Coffee: neither the long or the expresso had proper taste. Not recommended for food/coffee; ok for drinking a bottled something while enjoying...

This is a fantastic place. We arrived in bits and pieces and the owners were wonderful, 8 adults and five children ordering chaotically, but they were great. Food was really good and the pichet wine very good indeed. It's close to the castle on a picturesque square so is ideal for a post castle meal. Can't recommend...
