L' Atelier d'Élise — Restaurant in Chambéry

Our experience here was very disappointing. My wife ordered a slice of leg of lamb. When it arrived she found it a bit tough and stringy, the steamed potatoes tasted very unpleasant, and the sauteed vegetables were very overcooked and mushy. Thinking perhaps she just made a poor choice and it wasn't her style, after three bites she decided to take the left-over meat home and order a burger.

She specified the burger be well done, not pink, with no cheese as she is allergic to dairy. The waiter understood. We waited 20 minutes for the burger. When it came it was nearly raw inside. We showed it to the waiter and he saw immediately that it was not well done. He apologized and took it back. After another 20 minutes, the replacement came out... It was well done, but both buns had melted cheese on them. We showed it to him and he apologized again, embarrassed at another mistake. He took the bun and after another 10 minutes, the replacement bun arrived. She finally was able to eat her meal.

The waiter was very apologetic. However no compensation was reflected in the final bill.

All in all, we were very disappointed. We've had so many great meals in France!! But this is one of those restaurants with 40+ tables and the food is mass produced restaurant fare. We don't understand how this restaurant gets so many good reviews!

Much better to find one of those quintessential French restaurants with about 8 tables where the food is the result of passion for quality and the service conveys a commitment to providing a...

We came in as a large group (13). The 1st waiter got frustrated and ended up just walking away - 😂 Generally large group tend to be a bit boisterous as they are enjoying themselves with lots of voices. The waitress that replaced him was fine. She was able to take everyone’s order with a smile.

Food was terrible for me. I ordered the flank steak medium rare and it was like shoe leather. When plates were collected I said it was not good. I did try a bit from both ends of the piece of meat but could not chew any of it!! Shortly after, the waitress came to inquire who complained about meal & I said I did. So her question was “why didn’t you say something?” I said, “nobody ever came back to check. Was I supposed to come to you?” Anyway, her fault was only that she never returned to the table to see if our party was satisfied. To be fair, I did not hear complaints from the other diners so perhaps this poor food was a one time issue. I do not know if they actually charged the party for the meal - they probably did.

Overall, they were out of burrata starter, dinner was terrible and I did not...

Not sure how this place gets 4.4/5 over 1200 reviews. My order came to the table incorrect, replaced quickly but is black angus beef buger supposed to be completely tasteless? My son said his three ribs were way too sweet. The side salad instead of fries (I’m diabetic) was just green leaves and three half cherry tomatoes, and a small decoration of carrot shreds. Fries under/not salted at all. Service is ok, staff friendly and smile so that is something for these theee stars I gave, otherwise I’m leaving hungry and without any flavours of the region in my mouth. Lastly, as the location is not on the lake side, there’s no view or any breeze able to penetrate from the surrounding parking lot. Other choices abound and if the feed is all equal, choose a nicer...
