Café Montescot — Restaurant in Chartres

Booked a specific table for four people with a very helpful guy for the evening after visiting in the morning for a coffee. We double checked with him it was available . On returning we found the table we had booked was full and the person who was now in charge said there had been a mistake and it was already booked. This lady seemed very surprised my wife and parents in law (who live in Chartres) were French. Hmmmmm. We were then cramped into a corner and so asked for a different table. We chose one and as we sat a group of people having a drink expressed they had their eye on it and espresso that they now had to sit next to a large table of English to which lady in charge then offered them a free drink!!! The young guy who took our booking repeatedly avoided us…maybe as he knew our original table had just been given away. After this the service was on the side of terrible, rude, slow and I have to say we we not asked once if things were ok. The food was average at best and the whole thing over priced for what it was. TBH, we should probably have walked out. The best thing about this restaurant is the Italian one next...

The food was delicious but the service was poor. We wanted a place outside but it was "full", but we could see a table that was free the whole time we were there. So we sat inside, and though the staff all seemed rushed, it didn't seem that busy inside. It took an age to get the attention of the staff, and that was necessary to get the menu, to order, and to get a coffee (which never arrived).
