(One caveat before I share my experience: this place engages in the shady practice of asking unsuspecting customers if they would like some water, to which most people say yes. Then they ask still or sparkling. Then they charge you for the bottle of water because you "ordered" it. I despise this dubious trick. I really wish restaurants would ban this practice. Being a resident of France, I opted for "un carafe d'eau" so I wasn't charged, but be careful.) I had a wonderful meal here. It's a bit on the pricey side but it's definitely worth the cost. The food is high-quality and delicious. The servers were friendly and welcoming (aside from what I mentioned above). There are plenty of options on the menu, and everything is made from local Alsacien ingredients. If you can, try to get a seat outside. You get a fun view of people walking to and from the Petite Venice bridge.

From start to finish, this was a fantastic experience. We have traveled fairly extensively in France and Germany and are familiar with the cuisine. The offerings were comforting and familiar but elevated and truly reflected that our meal was prepared with the utmost care from the kitchen. Our server was kind and attentive—she did not rush us and answered all of our questions to ensure we had a welcoming experience. You can tell they take pride in what they do. This was the best terrine we have ever had and all of the dishes from appetizer to main to dessert were flavorful and delicious. We have a few nights left in Colmar and we would not hesitate to return to try other menu items. Thank you to our server who made us feel quite welcome as travelers—cheers!

SERVICE INACCEPTABLE par le serveur qui nous a traités comme s'il travaillait dans un take away 😳 I came with my friend for lunch. She had already eaten at the market but I wanted some traditional french food. I did tell the water that we were just ordering food for myself and that my friend was going to have a drink. He seemed alright with that. We happened to have a bottle of apple juice with us that we had just purchased from the market. We didn’t have a rucksack or anything to put it in and he felt it necessary to point out that we weren’t allowed to drink it in his restaurant. We ordered drinks at once. The portions were very big and I was not able to finish neither the starter, nor the main. After I finished I passed my plate to my friend so the food doesn’t go wasted. After she finished my last bites the waiter felt it necessary to create a scene about how food sharing wasn’t allowed and that he was going to charge us extra 9 Euros for “sharing”. He was very loud, shouting and trying to embarrass us clearly but I believe he caused more discomfort to the other two tables that had to sit through this drama he caused that lasted for several minutes. We also experienced him speaking badly to the table next to us while we were eating where he felt it appropriate to say “how do you dare to mock me, WOMAN” to a customer. We found this very offensive, sexist and I’m surprised she didn’t walk out from the restaurant. In addition it was painful to hear his silly tourist lines “do you want a desert or are you sweet enough?” which was cringeworthy. This behaviour may be appropriate at an all-you-can eat restaurant but we certainly didn’t expect this treatment here. DISGUSTING...

Let's start from the beginning. We were two families with 3 children under 5 and 4 adults. We told the restaurant if it was OK for us to go there with children and they were cool. But from the moment we entered there was open hostility. The owner from the restaurant shusshed and grabbed aggressively one of the children, lifted him and threw him violently. He is 2 and half year's old. She didn't want him to walk around or touch things. From that they just started to gang up on us yelling, asking our children not to move from their seats. When we told them we were doing our best and asked for children seats their answer was 'we only have one, you should not have 3 children, next time don't come to a restaurant'. And this is exactly what we will Do. We will never go there again and wouldn't recommend it. Other than that the quaint atmosphere is basically just mouldy/old. The food is below mediocre and the service is as said above, terrible. Cherry on the cake, one of the waitress told us her children are better raised than ours, and the owner ganged up with a group of older clients sitting next to us that helped her yelling at us. Horrible experience. 4 adults, 3 children, sub par food, 1 bottle of wine and terrible atmosphere = 240...

Unfortunately, it was a very bad eating experience which cost us 75 Euros. I ordered salmon fish on the menu but nobody warned me it would be kippered salmon, served without cooking along with a sauce. I thought I could give it a try, but I was able to eat only a quarter of it. I felt like I was eating brains because of the way it looked and because of its awful taste. My wife on the other hand, ordered Ceaser salad and she said it was the worst Ceaser salad she had ever eaten. The sauce of the salad was too juicy, almost milky and had no special flavor. The panko chicken inside the salad was overcooked. Let alone all these, how bad can you make and serve French fries? We ordered French fries and they served it on a dish which you could use as your dog’s food bowl. Okay, they want to consume as less potato as possible I understand but, how can they fry them in a way that nobody would fancy? Only a bad, underpaid chef could be the explanation. As for the place itself, the tables were too close to each other and you could eat of the plate of someone who sits on the table next to you. It was a very bad eating experience which lasted for 45...
