Very disappointing experience because of the restaurants staff and hours. I’ve heard that Germans aren’t very pleasant and they definitely withheld to the reputation. When you go in the restaurant obviously looking to be seated they look at you and talk to you like you have entered their home, in shock and very uncomfortable that you have entered their business!! 😄first time we went they immediately made us switch tables but in a rude manner. Service and food took so long I don’t think I have ever waited for potatoes to come out for so long .. their menu itself was ok considering all they eat is sausages and hams they actually had some good other options. The second time we came was for dinner, mind you they open at 7 pm and we walked in at 8 pm.. I entered asking for a table clearly seeing one available inside with no reserve sign and outside 4 tables were set up for dining and with blankets. The lady looked at me like Im crazy - how dare I come to ask for dinner at 8 pm. She said they are full and it’s not possible and when I asked for outside table she said not possible not possible like I was asking her something very difficult. I honestly think this is because the restaurant is ran by cranky old ladies that spent most of the time smoking and talking when we were passing by during the days. Wouldn’t recommend this restaurant maybe if you are German and you are okay with their attitude and lack of customer service. Funny thing is they had a sign “good vibes or goodbye “ which is ironic because they don’t...

Is it a tourist restaurant? Of course, it is right in the middle of one of the most touristy areas in Colmar (France?). I was well aware of that when I booked a table but then, I was a tourist myself.

First off: bookings are essential, at least during the high season on a sunny day. We saw dozens of people turned away whilst we were having lunch.

Seating the guests that did have a reservation took a while, as there was only one lady in charge of the procedure. After that, service was fast and efficient, no mean feat considering there were only 2 staff.

We chose the menu of ă starter and main course, with a choice of 4 or 5 dishes in each category. I did actually want to go for the full menu, including dessert, but I was too full after two courses. The price per person was EUR 37.90 which, considering the quality and location, seemed fair. EUR 6.70 for a bottle of water was a bit steep but again: tourist area.

My wife ordered the snails, and they were excellent. I had the breaded Munster with duckbreat which was also very good. My wife continued with the Arctic Char which she thought was a little boring, whilst I had Scottish roast beef, which was perfectly cooked and very tasty. We had to pay an additional EUR 2.00 for the smails and Char for being premium products.

It was great fun having a meal in the middle of Little Venice and the great food and service made it an...

We did not have a very pleasant welcome from the gentleman in the red coat outside the venue! There was a long queue forming when we arrived 5 minutes before our reservation time. All we wanted to know was whether you still queued if you had a reservation, but he ignored our “ excuse me” which I found extremely rude and we returned to the queue. He then finally made his way down the line asking who had reservations. We were then allowed to enter with a “ this is your table”, no additional pleasantries such as “ enjoy your meal” etc? The table was fine, the service very pleasant and welcoming and all the food delicious. It was very busy, so service became a little slow, although all waiting staff were working hard. Why I have only given 4 stars for atmosphere was because of the lack of manners from the outside host in the red jacket and that during our meal, he allowed person after person waiting in the queue to use the toilet. There were only two toilets in the restaurant to use, so soon a long queue formed down the stairs beside our table. It seemed a strange thing to do. He was letting more people into use the toilets than he let in to dine!! Surely with only two toilets these should be for guests dining? We enjoyed our meal and would recommend the restaurant to friends, however, the toilet arrangement needs to...

My husband and I were visiting Colmar and found this restaurant on the Michelin website before coming. I wanted to be seated outside but we were not presented with the option to choose. The food was great, however. the service was only ok. We could definitely see they are much friendlier to French people than tourists. Tip: you’ll need to wait outside for a table, we went in telling them know we’d like a table for two, the response we got was “you must wait outside”. She sounded pretty annoyed, could be a language barrier thing, but there’s no sign indicating we needed to wait outside. They were playing English songs when we were there (specifically from American singers) so I was hoping that like Americans. I wouldn’t necessarily say they are rude, but definitely a lot less friendly comparing to French people. We waited a while for our food to come out, 3 tables who (French) ordered after us, however, they got their food way before we got ours. And no, it wasn’t because we ordered someone that’d take longer than other dishes, because the other 2 tables ordered the exactly same dishes as us.
