This is possibly the worst restaurant I've encountered in my global travels. Three of us, one French and two Chinese, were bluntly informed of a 1.5-hour dining limit upon arrival, which we reluctantly accepted. When one female friend couldn't finish a main plate due to feeling unwell and wanted to share, they harshly insisted on each person ordering a separate plate plus one starter. Despite understanding, our decision to skip dessert displeased the waiter. During the meal, our dog consumed an egg; we carefully placed the shell in a tissue as shown in the image. As we left, the restaurant manager, a woman, loudly yelled at us, thanking us for the "garbage" and violently slammed the door in our faces. Confused, we politely inquired in French, only to be contemptuously told they had no responsibility to clean up after us. Shockingly, another staff member used severe racial slurs, questioning our origin.
For a Michelin-starred restaurant, the service, behavior, and language were beyond disappointing. Objectively, the food was subpar. When we provided feedback, the staff responded with poor attitudes, claiming that's how things are here.
We urge everyone to reconsider entering such a dreadful establishment. Such service and food do not deserve the...
Read moreMy partner and i have visited this busy restaurant in the Autumn and found the food was presented beautifully and was also very tasty. We decided to take my mother there for her last evening in Colmar. The menu we were given was not what we expected. Much abbreviated to what we had experienced the first time. We decided to go for three different main courses. My mother ordered the sauerkraut and sausages, I ordered the "meatballs" and my partner the potato bake. The food arrived and all three of us were unimpressed. Mother was given a mound of sauerkraut with a huge piece of speck, 2 sausages with a large unattractive piece of kassler, oh yes and a random boiled potato. My partner was presented with what was quite simply a potato bake (normally a side dish) and a small salad. I suppose I was the lucky one with three meatballs presented on a plate with a salad and a side portion of mashed potato. The desserts we chose were to the standard we expected and we had absolutely no complaints with regard to the service. Maybe if we had not dined so wonderfully the first time we would not have been so disappointed on this occasion. We sadly felt that we had experienced a Colmar Christmas rip off at...
Read moreThe place itself is nice and charming in beautiful Colmar. The food was good, but nothing special or anything to praise.
The reservation was for 2 hours which was plenty enough for us. The waitress wasn't very helpful and was putting a lot of pressure on time for no reason at all. She came for orders before we even managed to take our coats and backpacks off and seat comfortably. She explained in English which dish is what. We wanted a moment to think about it so asked her to come back a bit later. We were a party of six and it wasn't easy for everyone to make a choice. Literally a minute later she's back and asking for the order again. We asked for another 5 minutes, she said ok and came back within 40 seconds to ask for the order again. We quickly chose what we wanted and were out of the restaurant within 1,5 hour, so the whole time pressure had no grounds whatsoever.
Going out to a restaurant is an opportunity to relax and enjoy each other's company, this was significantly trumped straight away by the waitress...
