We visited a cozy Alsatian restaurant that shines through its dedication to traditional dishes. Though the menu is limited compared to other local restaurants, the chef excels at classic recipes, offering a truly authentic experience.

The sauerkraut was beautifully seasoned, infused with Genevieve berries, cloves, and other spices that brought out rich, comforting flavors. The highlight of the meal was undoubtedly the pork knuckle with Munster cheese sauce—tender, flavorful, and absolutely unforgettable.

The restaurant is very family-friendly, with main dishes available in kid-sized portions and a convenient changing table for babies. The waitress was delightful—attentive, welcoming, and a pleasure to chat with.

The wine list is well-curated, featuring excellent local choices that complement the dishes perfectly.

If you’re looking for a warm, traditional Alsatian dining experience with great service, this place is...

We have been staying in Turckheim for a week, at the end of a five-week tour of France, (Rugby World Cup). During that time we have eaten in a number of restaurants around the country, most of which were at least good. It seems that we saved the best until last.

For our last restaurant meal of the trip, we decided upon lunch in L'Autrefois in Turckheim and we are so pleased that we did! The food was excellent, the wines were excellent and the service was superb! The restaurant is owned and run by a family team, who put on a small but perfectly-formed menu to a strictly limited number of clients each day. They are justifiably proud of their restaurant and work extremely hard to maintain a very high standard all-round and provide a first-class dining experience for their customers. Very highly...

This is one of those places you hope to find when you travel. Husband and wife team that create the perfect, friendly, intimate dining experience. I called ahead for reservations, apologized that my French is poor, the wife said she speaks English, but when I said , "But I practiced!" We proceeded in "French" and she remembered me 30 days later. Best meal and experience in a long time. We closed the place. After talking with the woman after the meal we left, the I ran back in to ask the meaning of the name of the restaurant. She said (to the best of my understanding) it is meant to convey that you are returning to another place like your grandparents place and another time for the good food of your childhood (if you were French and that was your heritage!)...

We had a wonderful experience at this charming little French family restaurant yesterday night. The atmosphere was incredibly cozy and welcoming, making us feel right at home from the moment we walked in. It’s clear that everything here is done with a lot of love and care. Our dog got a water bowl right away without even asking. The food was traditional, authentic, and absolutely delicious, and the wine recommendation paired perfectly with our meal. Booking a table was very easy with just a quick phone call, and communication in English was no problem at all. Overall, it was a very delightful evening! Merci ❤️

What a hidden gem! On this charming cobblestone street, just past the shops lies this special restaurant! We enjoyed lunch outside & were treated to a traditional lunch that was like eating from your grandfather’s kitchen. The soup, quiche, snails & braised pork shank were melt in your mouth delicious. We must mention the kir royal made with local cremant & “brown beer” (wish I took a photo to remember the name) were also delicious. Make a stop in Turkheim, wander & lunch here! They take great pride in their restaurant & will treat you like family 💙. Merci beaucoup!
