We tried to eat at au Fleur du Sel, but rudely dismissed by the smugly charmless hostess (“complet, no prends pas des reservations, il faut attendre” “combine de temps” “je ne suis pas dans la tette des gens” the tone in French was snotty and intentionally rude) we concluded it wasn’t worth a mysterious wait (especially because a place that’s complacently rude at front of house is likely not good.)
So we walked on, and into the Marché-aux-Fruits (like all French markets always worth a visit.) There we went to the bar, sat at a barrel-table, but noticed the beautiful riverside terrace adjoining the bar and enquired if they might have a table for three. The waitress graciously went to inquire of her colleagues on the terrace who told her one- such had just been liberated. So we descended to the terrace, over the river, cool and shaded, with two swans bobbing by, and hanging plants and a wonderful view.
The menu is a limited Alsatian one, centring on tarte flambée in various, several, variations, but done perfectly and generously, and priced very reasonably. Read moreA very friendly family owned restaurant with unique recipe for a kind of tarte flambèes they call it flambees that has crep as tartes flambées bread with very different tastes of cheese. The location is amazing next to the Rue Des Ecoles which while eating you will see the people on boat passing and take your pictures. 😊 The staff are all family members and they check on you every 5 minutes to make sure you have everything and you like the food you ordered. They are super nice with amazing smiles. I love the ambience and the attention they gave me. It felt like home. The interior design is also interesting. Check my pictures please. Hot chocolate was goood. The guy (Ayoub) who made it was even better. Colmar is a small city but...

I guess he thought we were foreigners and didn't understand his language. I told him to just apologize but he insisted he never said that, the female waiter came and said that it was just his bad pronunciation.
I am very sad that my wonderful family vacation was ruined.
The pizza tasted good and the view is very nice, but I would recommend all Asians and foreigners not to come to a place with such...
