The pizza was tasty. But I didn't order pizza (even though that's what I ended up with) and the process of acquiring it was a huge, time consuming, baffling mess. I'm still not really sure what happened.
At home, I try to call places directly, not use apps, because it saves them money. But I'll use apps for takeout when I don't speak the language, because it usually prevents confusion. Usually. Not this time. I put in an order on Deliveroo for an anti-pasta platter and some artichoke mezzaluna. Ten minutes later, my phone said it was already ready! So I start walking faster. Don't want cold food! I get to the Little Italy Shop, and indicate, by showing them my phone, that I'm here to pick up my order. "Ten minutes" the guy says. Which, ok. Wierd, but things happen. Ten minutes-ish after that, he comes back and indicates that they don't have any of those things, and he needs to cancel my order. There's some confusion, because we don't speak each other's languages, but whatever. He pokes at my phone, and errors out the delivery, so it said it was missing all the items. Which, as it turns out later, means Deliveroo gives me credit, instead of returning my money. I'm really hungry (and at this point regretting not just getting doner, but I'm already here ok) so I ask if I can get a pizza. I see other people getting pizzas. Instead of handing me a menu, he indicates that I can see it by taking a picture of a QR code on his phone. This doesn't work. I say I'd like a pizza with mozzarella and basil, because everyone has that. Ten min later, a waitress hands me a pizza box, but says nothing about paying for it, so I assume they're giving it to me for free as an apology. Nope! Cue someone chasing me down the street to explain that I have to pay for it. Embarrassing. 12 Euro. I give the first guy a 20, because I don't have change. Neither does he. I ask if card would be better. No, he'll get change. He leaves. Like, leaves the restaurant. While he's gone, two other staff members check on me. One of them speaks English! I'm unclear why he wasn't involved in the whole process much earlier. Possibly because he's the cook? Anyway, I can't pay either of them, because the first guy has my 20. He finally comes back, gives me my 8 Euro change, and I head back to my AirBnB. I open the pizza. It isn't cut. This is the most difficult Italian food experience ever. I rip it into pieces. Delicious. Going places where I don't speak the language always requires a little flexibility and grace. Sometimes I eat things I wasn't expecting! But never has it been this hard to get an order filled. I'm pretty baffled. Like, if you don't have something on the menu, don't put it on the app. If you don't have it, don't tell people it'll be ready in ten min when they show up to pick it up. This is pretty...
Read moreTrying to write an objective review. The ‘vibe’ was pretty okay. There were multiple tables talking and just having fun together. The staff however, wasn’t laughing at all, and weren’t contributing to the vibe in any positive way. We started with cocktails, which were okay. After which we ordered de deluxe delicacy platter. That was the highlight of the evening. It was very abundend and all different types of cuts and cheese were amazing. We were really looking forward to the main after this great appetizer. However, the pizza was terrible, it was more oil than cheese and/or dough (please see picture attached for proof). There wasn’t any taste besides fat and olive oil. Another person in our company orderd the mac & cheese (Yes, influencee by Tiktok), but it was horrible. It was extremely dry and the only thing we could taste was flour! After spending nearly 180,- (4 persons) I would recommend...
Read moreTook a friend here for dinner and felt utterly embarrassed, will never return. The servers are scattered, we called multiple times to get water. Eventually we literally had to chase the server down to get cups put on the table for water. Our waitress took our order, forgot it, then came back to ask since she didn’t write it down the first time. We waited over 30 minutes for our food which was the same quality of something one could easily make at home. We thought the pasta was made fresh, but we were informed the tagliatelle order hadn’t come in that day so they were all out. When it came time to pay they couldn’t even find the ticket with our order. The staff are clearly overrun and can’t pay attention to everyone, yet they kept placing more tables outside. Really really...
