We stayed here once before and vowed never to do so again but made a mistake and booked for one night while travelling north to Dieppe. Of course, we recognised the hotel as sson as we saw it; the images do not show the whole story. But first a plauidit for a lovely girl in reception who smiled, spoke better English than I do French. She did not recognise our discount card for the group but managed to find a way to meet the price we were expecting. ||The first complaint is about parking. there is a little in front of the hotel and none at reception which is a problem on a wet night. There is plenty by the rear rooms but signage is poor so you are likely to find your room, luggage laden, before you discover there is parking just below it!||Having visited before we knew not to attempt the restaurant; there is no chef on Sunday evening but the receptionist managed to produce a couple of bottles of beer - there is no bar - which were very welcome.||The rooms are very disappointing and not worth even the discounted price we paid. There is a kettle in the room and in our room, two kettle bases which defies logic. There are too few recharge points for today's plethora of electronic devices we use when travelling. The room was passably clean and the notice that there would be a fine for smoking, quite ridiculously high and frankly unenforceable. ||The final insult was found when using the shower room in the morning - a nasty, although dead bug and then to our horror another on the desk (pictured). Read moreWe were only staying in transit to Spain. We wanted an hotel with restaurant, as we have used Campanile before, it ticked all the boxes. Reception was good as were all the staff we encountered, and although the selection was less than before (price pressure?) therr was still enough to satisfy our needs. Breakfast was as remembered and was good. The Bad: The room was not the cleanest we have visited, dust behind the radiators, the doors fitted badly (front & bathroom), the decoration was the poorest we have seen on our many travels, as if done by an amateur. The entire room could do with new paint & skirtings. There was, to our horror, black mould in the shower between the tiles. for the room we would rate at 2 We stopped using a competitor chain of hotels because they were going downhill on room quality & lack of maintenance, we are more than happy to consider other competitors if the trend continues...
