La Maison Blanche Hossegor — Restaurant in District of Dax

We wanted to have a quick easy lunch before heading to the beach. We were sat inside. We ordered pretty straightforward food, thinking they cannot miss pasta and a steak tartar. We got our pimientos de padrón fairly quickly. They were lacking the thick sea salt and the color and texture was so off. Simply terrible. Luckily we didn’t get the 5 jotas jamón serrano de bellota, we saw another table getting it and the portion size was literally one piece of ham and the quality looked like the one you buy at a sale at the cheapest supermarket in Spain. The tables around us who got sat after us all got their food way before us. Maybe because they were French speakers.We waited for our mains for an hour. When we were about to leave they brought the food. It was tasteless and really really bad. My steak tartar was somehow cooked? I don’t know how they don’t know that a tartar is raw marinated meet. It left a very unpleasant taste in my mouth. I ate the fries as that was the only food that was very difficult to mess up.

Best location in Hossegor, probably the worst food in town.

We ordered a banana crêpe with chocolate — the absolute worst chocolate I have ever tasted. It was strangely sour. We ended up scraping it off just to eat some dough and banana.

We also ordered fresh orange juice. Beforehand, I asked if it was 100% freshly squeezed and the waiter said yes. However, it tasted like orange juice mixed with soda. Since I can’t drink soda or bottled juices, I couldn’t drink it at all. When we mentioned this to the waiter at the end, he acted surprised and denied any mix. We were still charged for the undrinkable juices.

Absolutely terrible experience. The food was disappointing across the board – bland, poorly prepared, and worst of all: cold when it arrived. The service was equally awful. Staff seemed disinterested and unprofessional, and when we politely raised our concerns, we were met with indifference and zero effort to make things right.

This place clearly doesn’t care about quality or customer satisfaction. If you’re looking for a good meal and decent service, do yourself a favor and go literally anywhere else....
