Food was pretty good, with some nice twists on pastas. Pizza was also of a good quality.
Ambiance was alright except the halogen lights were pulsating in a way that bothered some of our party.
Service was indifferent at best. We asked for one of the pizzas without ham, which was just placed on top. The waiter rolled his eyes and suggested we just order a margarita. Cmon man, it’s a pizza, not a complex dish. One of our party knocked over a glass of ice (this place’s cocktails come with comically long pasta straws— easy to knock over). If waitstaff observed the plate filled with water and ice they didn’t seem bothered to replace it. Finally, we asked for a second bottle of the same wine, and after we’d poured a couple of glasses we realized we had been given the wrong bottle, a less expensive variety— yet we were charged for the original and had to point this out and have the bill adjusted.
The place is fine but there are better in the area, including some that are much...
Read moreIt was all nice, other than the food 😢 The carbonara didn’t have cream and that is right but the egg was runny and sitting at the bottom of the plate, guanciale was not crispy, the tonnarelli were overcooked, lacking salt and soul. Same for the frutti di mare, no shrimp, no clams, only squid and mussels over an overcooked pasta We Italian can be picky when it comes to our cuisine, but Gigi’s unfortunately was a big miss and not what I would consider a real Italian experience. We mentioned our disappointment to the personnel and they offered another plate as we barely touched ours, but we declined. It would have been nice for the responsible or the chef to come out and check on us, the waiter was nice but not her...
Read moreUnfortunately all the bells and whistles you see on instagram are just that, marketing. It’s not an Italian restaurant, the quality of products is ok, what it lacks are the skills and knowledge in the kitchen. Service was ok but management should have taken more responsibility when we sent back 3 out of 4 of the plates we ordered. And maybe consider a discount on the tab. All in all the more expensive spritz I’ve ever had for something around 90 euro. Please don’t get fooled by the claim “real carbonara”, because it has all the right ingredients (minus the pecorino Romano which can be a choice) and none of the proper execution. Perfect for tourist who can’t see the difference between a tourist trap and a...
