La Finette Taverne D'Arbois — Restaurant in Dole

We had a lunch reservation and we were some of the first customers to arrive for the lunch service. We were seated in an empty room and then saw no one for half an hour. I am sure they forgot we existed. When I went to inform the staff that we needed to order, I saw that customers in the other rooms all had drinks already. When we finally met our server, she was friendly and everything went at a normal pace after that, but we were there with our children, so by the time food arrived they were starving. Regarding the food, it was just OK. However, my kids wouldn’t eat the cheese fondue - which is my children’s favourite food - because it tasted so strange compared to the standard Swiss cheese fondue. They obviously use a much stronger tasting cheese. And the fact that they don’t cut the bread up for the fondue is really impractical for children. It is a beautiful restaurant with a cool old-fashioned atmosphere, but we will avoid it...

We came here in hopes of some nice onion soup and boy we were not disappointed. The soup is huge, I read a review that it’s enough for two people and this is accurate, but it’s delicious. My partner and I both got the l’arbois Express menu and it was great! Wonderful and well priced. We both had the Coti du Haut-Doubs and the pork was tender and cooked perfectly with delicious potatoes and homemade mustard on the side. Atmosphere is cozy and gives the vibe of a tavern, it’s loud with the occasional drunk singing, but you can still hold a conversation with someone. This restaurant features a great atmosphere, but we were a bit disappointed with our meal. My husband's chicken in vin jaune sauce was tasteless other than the sauce, it didn't taste like the chicken was cooked in the sauce. The fondue was very good, the salads average for their price. After everything we'd heard about this place and the level of advertising they spend money on, we would have expected better. Service was professional, and then again, a 5 star...
