Incredible experience. Just one of those days. From 2018. We are drinking a bottle of Gahier and it reminds us. We had gone searching for Michel Gahier’s cellars in Montagny-les-Arsures and become lost. We pulled over to stare at the GPS and Jacques Puffeney pops out of the house adjacent to the street. We said nothing because we were so surprised. Eventually, we abandoned our search for Gahier and returned to this shop. There was an older man entertaining all the employees and we joined in as he regaled us with wonderful stories as he alternated between drinking a bottle of Overnoy and an old vintage Belgian lambic. He was fantastic. When he left I asked the proprietor, Sebastien, in my terrible French, who was the old man drinking Overnoy? His response was “Overnoy.” I thought there was a confusion caused by my French. Yes, I said, I know he was drinking Overnoy but what was his name? His response was “That was Pierre Overnoy.” What a great time we had. We drank more and everyone invited us to dinner but we had imbibed too much (we were on the tail end of an amazing vacation and the brake pads were getting thin on the liver). A fantastic time. A fantastic shop. Fantastic people....
Read moreHad the worst experience in Jura at this wine shop. Every single person we met in jura was nice except for this guy. Holier than though attitude. We asked about a wine displayed on his shelf, that he didn’t want to sell apparently unless we bought 6 other jura wines. Ok, fine. We had already bought 3 bottles from him the other day, so we offered to buy 3 more. Nope! Buy six more. It’s written there (in French, which sadly we don’t read). He got mad at us and started shouting. We had to ask him politely to not get mad and it’s our mistake for not reading his policy. At this point he got even madder. Went inside and brought out a unicorn wine to tease us. He is the worst representative of the people of...
