We have never been so poorly treated in ANY restaurant ANYWHERE !! The WORST service of my life. Honestly! We were recommended to eat here by a local lady. I was with my parents (late 70’s) my husband, my two baby daughters & my brother. We were looking for lunch to feed & satisfy elderly parents & fussy kids! It was 1:35pm, we are tourists & forgot that many restaurants close at 2pm. Most on the promenade just a few steps away stayed open for tourists, so we forgot. My husband asked “are you open?” and the young waiter said yes and we were so happy to eat together in this really authentic lovely looking restaurant. But suddenly we are greeted with hostility & aggressiveness. Rushing the order as I tried to translate for my parents. Rolling his eyes, angry face. It was awful. We felt like bold children. He didn’t ask us for drinks (really hot day) we had to ask for water. He fetched it with no words, practically slammed it down & walked away. No smile for my beautiful girls who were so sweet & oblivious. The absolute opposite of what you expect from an Italian restaurant. Simple. If he was soon closing, all he had to say was “Not open” when my husband asked. But instead he made us feel awkward, awful, embarrassed and ultimately angry. My kind father still tipped this insolent rude boy. Everyone else agreed he deserved nothing. The food was tasty I will admit, such a pity we were made feel so unwelcome & unliked or we might have enjoyed it. Beware of the sulking, extremely...
Read moreI’ll give a fair and honest review of the food, because I’m a fair and honest person. But I will firstly say that we were completely ripped off and that has left an exceptionally bad taste in my mouth.
We ordered a bottle of Montepulchiano - which they didn’t have. This is a €35 bottle of wine.
I asked the waiter to point out something similar on the menu, and he pointed out a bottle for €25. I accepted his recommendation.
The wine arrived, I was none the wiser, I don’t know Italian wine well. And we drank it.
The bill then arrived, and it turns out this bottle was €65. Typical.
Taken advantage of, as a tourist, and we’re unable to defend ourselves fairly because of the language barrier.
I confronted him about it and he said nothing but he knew exactly what he had done. Of course, I didn’t want to cause a scene so I paid the bill and left.
I don’t believe this to be a miscommunication - I know what he pointed to on the menu - this was pure thievery - and I would not return with this in mind.
Starters:
We had a cherry tomato and mozzarella salad to share - it was fine. The tomatoes could do with being left out of the fridge. This gets served with a lovely little loaf of pizza bread which is delicious and makes the dish.
Mains:
My wife and I shared a pizza, Quattro Staggioni, this was really delicious!
Desert:
Despite not having this on the menu, I asked for a cheese plate, and they kindly prepared one for me - with another little pizza...
Read moreWe had a wonderful meal here: the spaghetti were perfectly al dente, the pancetta crunchy and juicy at the same time, and the Panna cotta basically melted off my tongue. We were served politely and efficiently by a young lady with long brown hair. However, once the restaurant filled up, her two colleagues were no big help: they chatted with customers, tapped away on their phones and really took their time doing their job, while our server ran around trying to serve her customers as quickly as possible. As a former gastronomy worker myself I felt bad for the lady who served us; she was doing a great job but due to her colleagues' laziness, her customers were getting annoyed with...
