Just had the most expensive San Pellegrino sparkling water in my life: 75cl for €12. My bad that I didn't bother to ask its price as elsewhere in Provence, we mostly had 1L for €5. Shrinkflation has affected many places in recent years, but this spot has taken a particularly bad hit.
The menu showed the whole fish of the day: 100g for €22. “Way too small and who on earth would pick that?” I thought, and confidently went for the octopus at €36. When the tiny fish landed on the next table, I felt smart “Good call, you've dodged that one.” Until my own plate arrived: a single tentacle skewer with a small bowl of vegetables. In hindsight, maybe 100g of fish for €22 was the better deal and at least cheaper. For reference, last night in Biot (10km north), I had three tentacles for €29 that tasted far superior.
Price aside, the quality disappointed too. A small part of the tentacle was burnt. If that's okay, the side dishes (€10 if ordered separately) we had were a greater disappointment. The "grilled vegetables" tasted off and not fresh, while the "crunchy salad" came with bitter leaves that tasted bland.
To be fair, the staff were attentive, the toilet clean, and the decor lovely. The view is fantastic - sitting on a prime spot with access to the beach. There are restaurants in great spots that charge a premium for an unforgettable experience that stays long with you. And then there’s La Plage du Cap: asking top prices yet leaving you disappointed and wishing you...
Read moreWe stumbled upon this restaurant completely by chance, and it turned out to be something truly extraordinary. From the beautiful décor to the perfect location – we had our dinner at a romantic table just three meters from the sea – everything felt magical.
We started with a plate of assorted appetizers so we could try a bit of everything. Each dish was absolutely delicious. We were even served marinated and grilled peppers reminiscent of those at La Petite Maison – but here they were a hundred times better, and enjoyed in a far warmer, friendlier atmosphere. A special mention must go to the bouquet of tomatoes, which was simply phenomenal.
For the main course, we chose the grilled lobster with fries. It was spectacular – simple in flavor, complemented by melted butter, and it truly melted in the mouth.
The service here deserves the highest praise: incredibly friendly and attentive. You can tell the team genuinely wants guests to return – a striking contrast to other places, like LPM in Cannes, where the food is below average, the prices astronomical, and the service disappointing.
If you want to enjoy outstanding food with an unforgettable view and a wonderful atmosphere, this is the place for you. We will definitely be...
