Le Rocher — Restaurant in Grasse

This place is for you if you want to find the poorest service and the rudest staff. The staff behaved inappropriately and arrogantly. We came to have lunch at this cafe with the children as there was nothing else in the neighborhood (the staff precisely know about it and use it to their own advantage), so we decided to sit here. From the beginning, the rudeness of the staff was startling, as we were made to understand that if we were not going to eat here, we should leave. But we planned to eat; the children were hungry, and we answered that we would have lunch. We waited long for our table; then, it took an eternity to carry menus and take orders. When we ordered food for 2 kids and then 2 pizzas for 4 adults and drinks for everyone, we were told that this restaurant has the "rule" to order a dish per person, meaning if we wanted to stay, we had to order a pizza per person. All this was expressed rudely and contemptuously. We encountered such a "rule" for the first time in a cafe or restaurant, although we travel a lot and have been to many places. But apparently, this "rule" was invented by the staff or the owner to make more money. In addition, this "rule" was not written anywhere in the cafe. I respect the right to make money in your business, but not at the cost of extorting money from visitors by demanding what they should order. If there were indeed good service and good food, there would be no need to openly demand from visitors to order what they do not want. Therefore, it is necessary to make your service at least pleasant, and then people will definitely want to go and spend time there. So far, this is the worst hole I've ever seen. I should add that we are foreigners. Perhaps the staff is prejudiced against other nationalities and has no respect for people at all. I am devastated that such a place is in a beautiful place like the south of France. Our kids were crying and very upset because of such rude behavior...

We had lunch there with my boyfriend last week. My boyfriend had the sardines with truffle potatoes I had the tataki tuna with rice and vegetables. The food was very good. The waiter was funny, he was quite impatient when I couldn’t chose what to eat and he chose the plate for me. He then proceeded to question why I chose non alcohol cocktail... They asked us to dress up for sitting there like everyone else which is annoying but I can understand it. Overall from the staff you get some pressure. In my view they are not laid back but rather there is a pressure to appear more chic and consequently leave more money. However, I don’t understand the comments that complain about the prices. The quality of food and the location vs the price is very good. Normally such restaurants are overpriced and have bad food. This was a very pleasant surprise for us. We wanted to return but we didn’t have time...

Me and my family were not warmly welcomed at this place. First of all at the very start we were suspiciously asked by waiter whether we were intending to EAT here (?) and we said yes. Then we have been waiting to be provided with menus for some 15 mins. When we made our order this so called waiter rudely asked us "so you do not want to eat??" and we were told that we are not going to be served unless each of us orders a MAIN, which in its turn was not mentioned anywhere (neither in menu nor at entry), even though we ordered pizza for each person and kid menu for each kid. This is a very shameful policy and greedy trap. Staff's attitude and behavior was also very arrogant and completely not acceptable. It felt like they are doing us a huge favor when they were seating us, bringing us menus etc. Utter disgrace. Strongly do not recommend. This wonderful location deserves way...
