2024: We arrived one hour early because our hotel apartment was not ready. So we borrowed the chairs outside. We were warmly welcomed by the staff 30 minutes later. We ordered a delicious evening meal. 3 different choices as we all have our preferences. Everything fresh. Meat, noodles and rice. I got extra 🌶️ chili. Strong and fresh. After a long day driving more than 500 km this was like being treated in an expensive restaurant. The difference is that this is an affordable eating place with healthy food. Later in the week I tried alternative places on same street. No comparison in the way I enjoyed Pagoda. 2023: We tried two other nearby eating places for variation, but this is the only place where I feel good after eating. We had soup, wok and rice. Thank you for healthy and delicious food. 2022: This place deserves a Michelin star. I would have liked to give it 6 Google stars. We had soup, noodles and chicken with a touch of Thai curry. The family running this business since 1999 are very friendly and helpful to advice. The food ingredients are fresh and cooked by professionals. Healthy cooking with vegetables and not too much oils. Thanks to this place I got to eat wok with noodles with a unique taste. A couple of hours later my stomach was in a good shape. It had suffered from nearby fast food since the weekend. Thank you In the evening we could not resist. We bought takeaway beef and shrimps. Cooked rice in hotel apartment. Yet another perfect meal. Amazing. Next evening we also came back to eat Ramen and Phou soup. Ordered Sushi to eat in the hotel balcony. The gentleman serving gave me extra fresh chili as I like 🔥 food. Conclusion: We live like kings in Pagoda Restaurant.

That’s the Rising Sun flag. It’s a symbol of Japanese imperialism and militarism, like the swastika is for Nazi Germany. As a Korean, I was really upset. If I had known there was a poster like that inside, I would never have entered. The food was just average. + Thank you for your response. However, I must say that the Rising Sun symbol cannot be justified as mere artistic expression. Just as the swastika is not acceptable regardless of its artistic use, the Rising Sun flag—used by imperial Japan during its war crimes and colonization—is a deeply offensive symbol, especially to Koreans and many others who suffered under Japanese militarism. This is not about misunderstanding the artist; it’s about understanding historical trauma and the responsibility that comes with public displays. Some symbols carry a weight that cannot be separated from their history.

By far the saddest meal I’ve had in my entire life. The monstrosity I received, albeit swiftly, bore no resemblance to any Pad Thai I’ve come across before. What you see in the attached photo is a congealed lump of bottom-shelf instant noodles that tasted as if it had been boiled overnight in a deep dark salt pit. I think we found a singular bean sprout, but otherwise no signs of life in terms of non-noodle ingredients. Clearly, whoever made this abomination of a dinner was intent on forbidding any pieces of chicken or, god forbid, vegetables from touching the dish. At least the slice of lime was somewhat useful - I put it in my Corona and drank to forget the ordeal that was Pagoda Wok.
